| XXX (2002) Cast:Vin Diesel,Samuel L.Jackson,Asia Argento,Thomas Ian Griffith Vin Diesel stars as a fun loving screw-up who is given a chance to cheat going to Jail by helping the U.S Government help out by infiltrating "Anarchy 99" a group trying to spread anarchy. I like Vin Diesel, I really do, there is something about him, that reminds a lot of Mickey Rourke (One of my favorite actors ever) but with XXX, Diesel creates a huge disappointment here, the movie would be watchable if it wasn't so moronic, I don't mind watching movies easy on the brain, but XXX is insulting, everything about XXX is so ludicrious that with onlya little tweaking could have been nice fodder for a spoof on Spy flicks. The action itself is surprisingly substandard as well as unexciting, and this is a huge disappointment, If one was to watch Pitch Black or Fast And The Furious (Two rather enjoyable movies) and see Diesel there and then here would see quite a differance, Diesel has no charisma in XXX, but one can't blame him, the script is awful. Samuel L.Jackson is also an awful ham here, playing the part with scorn, and the movie is basicly a rather dull affair with not much going for it. Think of it as a porn with no nudity, no story, lame action, what's to like here? However one is thankful Thomas Ian Griffith is killed off in the beginning, for that alone I give the movie an extra half star. D.Rob Cohen *1/2 |
