| Superman IV:The Quest For Peace (1987) Cast:Chrsitopher Reeve,Mark Pillow,Kargot Kidder, Jon Cryer,Gene Hackman Reeve returns in this appalling sequel which is so bad it finished Superman faster then a ton of kryptonite, the witless plot concerns Supes taking on Nuclear Man a clone put together by Lex Luthor from Supermans DNA in this rock bottom embarrassment. Before 1997's atrocious Batman and Robin there was another franchise killer for D.C Comicbook adaptions and it's Superman IV. Words cannot express how awful this movie is. From the moment this starts we know that we arent exactly in for a cinematic treat, but was it joke when Nuclear Man pounded Superman in to a paper-mache planet? Are we supposed to buy into the fact that Superman would even break a sweat against a villian as lame as "Nuclear Man". Are we supposed to be astonished by Superman ability to fly, when a cord is pulling him up? Are we supposed to actually a comicbook movie so wooden and hopelessly inert? Did Golan and Globus set out to make a sequel worse than Death Wish IV:The Crackdown, which came out the same year. Apparently so. Superman IV is full of atrocious special effects, (watching Nuclear Man is a complete joke) weary acting and unbelievably lackluster production values. Which all combine to make Superman IV of the worst sequels ever made. Cannon prodcers Golan and Globus reportedly cut the budget in half, which would account for the cutbacks on budget but considering that even Cannon backed guilty pleasures like American Ninja and Death Wish 3 look more polished and slick and those were made on a lower budget. One truly is in awe at this movies lackluster production and endless supply of stupidity. In the end Superman IV emerges as one of those "What were they thinking?"movies that really shouldn't have been made at all. Really sad to see Superman go out with a movie this embarrassing..
