| Silent Trigger (1996) Cast:Dolph Lundgren,Gina Bellman,Conrad Dunn,Christopher Heyerdahl An assassin learns he's the target of his supervisor if he fails to kill the target, basicly no plot but lots of action that offers a lot of bang for the buck. Dolph Lundgren is far from a great actor and we get what we expect from him although the movie has terrible dialogue, Silent Trigger has some really good shootouts and the directing is stylish thanks to Russell Macahly who makes an atmosphere that flows nicely with the action and the result is a solid action flick that furnishes enough fun and suspense to be well worth watching. Indeed the action that opens the film catches the viewer right away. Also the story is told in a rather interesting style and therefore the relationship between Lundgren and Bellman provides Silent Trigger with it's most compelling moments. Like I said earlier the action sequences are very well choreographed with things exploding nicely and the shootouts (the climax in particular) are directed with an effective rhythm which make up for Silent Trigger's flaws. Despite coming from the school of style over substance, those looking for a suspenseful actioner will not be disappointed. After all Silent Trigger certainly beats The Replacement Killers any day of the week. D.Russell Macahly *** |
