| The Replacement Killers (1998) Cast:Chow Yun Fat,Mira Sorvino,Michael Rooker CYF stars as an assassin who bulks at a hit on a police officer's son,Making him a target also in this visually appealing yet dull actioner which pales in comparison not only to CYF's work in movies like Hard Boiled, but in U.S movies that star the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Ho-Hum action movie is a (Very) disappointing american debut for CYF. The action scenes are all competently staged but since the story around the film is hideously empty-handed and therefore very dull. Overall The Replacement Killers is a soulless and by the numbers actioner which fails to excite on any level. Only for die hard CYF fans and even they will be disappointed by the lack of interest shown by the cast.CYF fared somewhat better in The Corruptor. D.Antoine Fuqua *1/2 |
