| The Road Warrior (1981) Cast:Mel Gibson,Bruce Spence,Virgina Hey,Emil Minty, Vernon Wells,William Zappa Mel Gibson exploded on to the big screen with this excellent sequel which casts Gibson as the vigilante cop who helps a tribe of people escape bandits who are out to steal the tribe's gasoline. Simply put when it comes to action, you just can't beat The Road Warrior for pure excitement. Period While I sound like a quote whore with my above summary I really want to say that this is one of my favorite movies of all time. The Road Warrior is really an extraordinary moive due to it's suspenseful actionscenes as well as it's fast pace which never lets the viewer out of it's grip. The Road Warrior is so exciting at times that you feel the adrenaline build in your body and release during it's jaw dropping conclusion. Indeed I for one can't think of a genre movie which gets the blood pumping more than this. Mel Gibson would go on to make some great movies after this but as far as I'm concerned this is his best, Yes even better than Braveheart because there just has to be something said for a movie that not only thrills it's audience but inspires a genre. Alongside The Terminator,Rocky and Die Hard, The Road Warrior marks not only as the best movie of it's p ost apoclypse genre that was ever made but also as one of the action cinema's greatest acheivements.D.
