| Die Hard (1988) Cast:Bruce Willis,Alan Rickman,Bonnie Bedelia,Paul Gleason Bruce Willis stars as John McClane a police officer who takes on german terrorists who have taken a whole christmas party hostage in this excellent actioner. Well this is the mother of them all! This is the movie that millions have imitaded and yet this is by far the best of them all. I know I could make the review longer and talk on and on about how great this movie but I think it's best to just say how good this is compared to all that this genre opened up to. Although it's somewhat of a derivative of The Delta Force, Die Hard emerges as far superior and vastly more suspenseful. McTiernan invests so much energy not only in the action but the escapes, the surprises and basically everything would be ripped off in the genre from other action stars. For instance the sequence in which Bruce Willis hides in a vent and terrorists look to shoot him is edge of your seat material. If there is one flaw (and it's not at all that bad of one.) it's Paul Gleason's character who tries to discourage our hero's actions. However that aside, I can't think of a better way to spend a couple hours. Although I sound like a quote whore let me say that Die Hard is a really one hell of a movie.D.John McTiernan **** |
