Nemesis (1993)

Cast:Olivier Gruner,Tim Thomerson,Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa,Brion James,Yuji Okumoto,Merle Kennedy,Deborah Sheldon

In a role tailor made for Jean-Claude Van Damme,Olivier Gruner more then holds his own against a killer cyborg (Thomerson) bent on world domination, however the real weakness in this movie is that it does not know when to call it a day, and the climax is laughably ludicrious.   Olivier Gruner stars as a cyborg cop who is on a suicide mission to locate Jarrid a renegade cyborg, Only to switch sides,Now he must deliver Jarrrid before his heart explodes or dies at the hand of a cyborg.

Overall N
emesis suffers from a lack of budget, the movie feels half baked and rushed yet the film is still fun enough to watch at 3 in the morning. Olivier Gruner never hit it big, that being said Nemesis isn't a lot better than that  bad Van Damme flick Cyborg, in terms of script and story it's almost a remake, it also has the same exploitation feel as Cyborg helmed by Albert Pyun the guy knows how to build decent actionscenes and he had reasonably well staged actionscenes in Cyborg but the difference here is that Nemesis doesn't take itself so seriously. (Which made Cyborg uninetentionally hilarious)Also Nemesis doesn't feel like just one big fightscene of a movie.

Nemesis does not hold a candle to films such as The Matrix,The Terminator or even I Come In Peace but Nemesis does deliver what it promises, and remains as one of Gruner's better features.. D. Albert Pyun***
