Hard Justice (1996)

Cast:David Bradley,Charles Napier,Yuji Okumoto,Vernon Wells,Jim Mancini

David Bradley stars as a cop who goes undercover behind bars to investigate the death of his best friend, along the way Bradley learns that the evil warden (Charles Napier) is in on it, whats worse is that the warden also has ties to the mobster (Okumoto) that Bradley brought to justice in what is easily David Bradleys best movie to date.

Hard Justice is indeed a lot like Death Warrant, however its actually vastly superior, Yaitanes  manages to give the picture a polished look and managesto tightly construct some exciting actionscenes, not that Yaitanes isn't above throwing action when it doesn't belong, there are actionscenes that while impressively staged come off as shoehorned in. However what one most finds surprising with this David Bradley actioner is that the cast all give good performances with the only exception being David Bradley. Bradley has always been a Michael Dudikoff clone, without really any of Dudikoff's likable qualities. For instance Dudikoff always has a down to earth intensity that would've been worked rather well for this movie, Bradley on the other hand just seems like a mindless robot who fights every now and then. Mainly it's the high energy actionscenes as well as Napier and Okumoto who  provide the real fun here, especially Okumoto who manages to add a playful edge to his mean spirited villian.D.Gregory Yaitanes***
