| Death Warrant (1990) Cast:Jean-Claude Van Damme,Robert Guillaume,Patrick Kilpatrick,Cynthia Gibb Van Damme plays a mounty who goes undercover in jail to investigate the murder of inmates in a rough prison, while there he finds that the sadistic warden is harvesting body parts in this disappointingly below-par actioner. Van Damme only comes alive when he's fighting, so having Jean-Claude Van Damme do more emoting is a huge mistake on the part of the director, when these actionscenes do eventually come there are a few moments when the movie becomes mildly diverting, but then once again it switches to cliched nonsense about corrupt wardens, prisoners and the like. What makes Death Warrant all the more frustrating is that the premise has so much potential that one wonders why nothing is done with it especially since there isn't so much action.. That being said, Van Damme manages to do slightly better than Cyborg but when Van Damme shows up in the climax fighting a crazed Kilpatrick who is armed with a lightbulb (!)
