Blink Of An Eye (1992)

Cast:Michael Pare, Janis Lee

Michael Pare stars as a psychic soldier who protects the CIAs directors daughter from terrorists in this slickly polished actioner which features Pare in good form even if it doesnt take full advantage of the interesting premise.

Truly this is as good as any movie from Bob Misioroski can be.  Misioroski is one of the worst directors in the business, just look at
Derailed, which is hands down Van Dammes worst movie to date, not to mention his other duds including Point Of Impact with Michael Pare. Still as a whole Blink Of An Eye delivers the required action as well as providing some interest with its unusual premise. Misioroski even manages to get fine performances from the no-name supporting cast, however not all of it comes together the way it should, I for one wouldve liked to see more of the premise explored. Such as having Pare lose his vision earlier?, so there could be more tension, when his psychic abilities sharpen after his loss of sight. Why not have Pare sharpen his abilities by avoiding traps while blind? Why not use a much more complex plot which fully takes advantage of it's intriguing idea, because really the plot could be the same even without the twist. Blink Of An Eye has so many good ideas and interesting angles that a director could really explore, it's a true crime on how the psychic abilities just seem like a afterthought.  Yet despite it all Blink Of An Eye is superior to many theatrical releases, it delivers on what it promises, which is wall-to-wall action all well staged and impressive.

It certainly is more hard-hitting than many actioners. Kids are gunned down, people are torched and the body count is on the three digit side,   above else
Blink Of An Eye succeeds due to its ability to keep moving. A few slow moments emerge but basicly this is a well put together actioner which emerges as Misioroskis best work to date, or for that matter remains one of Pares better features. Still this could've been a great movie worthy of an easy 4 star rating, instead it's just another well made actionflick.  D.Bob Misiorski ***
