This is the most dynamic academic department of the College of Arts & Sciences of San Beda College. It offers a single degree course, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy & Human Resource Development. The department is committed to the praxiological merger of philosophy & the social sciences in and through the systematic reflection and analysis of Philippine history, culture and society.

Events:

Last February 24-25, 2003 the Philosophy & HRD Circle sponsored Philosophy Week. Activities include philosophical debate, exhibit and tete-a-tete at the philosophical cafe.

The Department together with the Humanities class of 4BBE, 4CBE, 4DBE and 4EBE spearheaded a weeklong celebration dubbed as Sining Diwa 2003: A Festival of Arts & Culture last February 24-28.  Fr. Bernardo Ma. Perez, OSB, former Rector and a well-known art critic, graced the opening of exhibits held at the St. Maur's lobby.  Dr. Bienvenido Lumbera of DLSU, Prof. Reuben Caņete of UP Department of Art Studies, Prof. Grace Odal-Devora of UP-Manila Department of Arts & Communication and Prof. Elizabeth Morales-Nuncio of San Beda gave lectures on Philippine arts & culture.\more details\

Set on March 8, the graduating students of SY2002-2003 are going to defend their theses before a panel of experts assigned by Prof. F.P.A. Demeterio III, thesis moderator.
