Perry Township's Covered Bridge

The Salt Creek Covered Bridge is located at the intersection of Murphy Hill Road and Arch Hill Road in the northeastern quarter of Perry Township. Residents near this area petitioned the Muskingum County commissioners in 1875 for the construction of a bridge over Big Salt Creek. Construction of this bridge was completed in 1876.  Although a tin roof has been added to the structure, the remainder of the bridge appears as it did when first constructed.  This covered bridge is one of the two covered bridges remaining in Muskingum County, and the Salt Creek Covered Bridge is the older of the two.  The bridge is no longer used for travel but is kept as a historical landmark.
