DORIS STOKES
Doris Stoke is one of the most famous mediums of the late 20th century, she communicated with "the other side" as though she was talking to some one in the next room.

Doris Stokes was born in Grantham, Lincolnshine in 1920, across the road from Margaret Thatcher. Her father, Sam Sutton, was a blacksmith was a senitive man and a natural psychic. She was a child when she realised that she too had a psychic gift.

One of her experiences with the paranarmal happened on night, there was a terrible fire in the next street to were she lived. Her parents hearing it was at their friend Tom's house, rushed out to see if they could help. Doris allso watching what was happening  followed behind her parents. There was a large crowd gathering in the street Doris watched as a terrible burnt shape was carried out of the burnt house on a stretcher, she was horrified at what she was seeing. She looked up from the stretcher and something else made her freeze, Tom was walking beside his body, real and solid-looking with out a burn on his body. Her father saw her looking at  the body, ran over to her, gave her a clip behind the ear and took her home. Doris was still sobbing and very frightened after she got home. She described what she saw to her father, he realized that she was going to be different to other girls.

Doris had a good family and a happy childhood even though the family did not have alot of money. When her father died she she thought her live would fall to pieces. They had been very close and he taught so much. Before he died he told her, "All you've got to is put out your hand and I'll be there totake hold".

When WW II broke out Doris turned twenty and she joined the WRAF. Life was fun for her, boy friends dances and different experiences. The disturbing part of her life was when she saw young pilots walking out to their fighter plane. She almost always new which pilots would not return. She some times would tell fortunes, her perdictions began to get to close to the truth. She went to a spirtual church one night and was told by a medium, "One day you will be doing this".

Doris married a youg airman, John Fisher. He was reported missing in action, the local spiritual church confirmed that he had been killed. It was the most traumatic experience in her life. Doris had become pregnant in the early days of her marrage, and now had a baby son. She returned home in a state of shock.
What happened next is quit amazing. It is described in her Autobiography.
VOICES IN MY EAR:
The bedroom flew open so sharply I thought it was my mother bursting in, and there stood my father. My mouth dropped open. He looked as real and sold as he did when he was alive....
"Dad?" I whispered.
" I never lied to you, did I Doll? he asked.
"I dont think so". I said.
" I'm not lieing to you now". John is not with us and on Chrismas dat you will have proof of this." Then as I watched, he vanished.
Three days later the War Office imformed her that her husband John was dead. To everyone's amazment she refused to believe it. She clung to her hopes. Just as her father had predicted her husband was found, although badly injured but alive. And yes, she was notified on Chrismas day.
