DORIS STOKES
PART 2
Doris  never trained as a medium but soon became quite well known in the spiritual church circit, passing on messages from voices that became increasingly clear. She also earned a bit of money by giving private sittings. She soon had another traumatic experience in her live, her baby son died at five month old. She was to lose another three children before finally adopting her son Terry, the sadness she experienced made her senitive with regard to bereaved parents.

Doris became a household name in 1978, when she went through a serious of tests on television in the USA, which were a stuning success. Suddenly she was in demand everywhere. Her books became best sellers and she had many public appearences. Doris had waiting list for private sittings that ran in to the thousands. She went on a tour to Australia, in Sydney people queued for hours just to get a ticket.

Many people were amazed to see how down to earth she was about the spirit world. She had utter believe in the spirit world, it was as real to her as this one. Doris would describe her self as a telephone exchange putting the spirits in touch with there loved ones.
Doris would see blue flickering lights above peoples heads of thoughs she would put in contact with spirits. The longer the person was dead the stonger the voice was. The newly dead tended to be very faint and some times fading out all together. If people were expecting some weird experience at Doris's performances they were disappointed.
Most of her messages were given in trivial details but the accuracy of the exchanges were enought to convince most people that they had experienced a paranormal event.

Doris Stokes recorded her contact with some very famous people in her book.
A HOST OF VOICES. George Orwell, auther of, NINTEEN EIGHTY FOUR, John Lennon and Marc Bolan who were great pop stars, Richard Beakinsale who died of a heart attack at the age of thirty-two. He wanted her to tell his parents that he had taken up music, something he always wanted to do on earth. One of the most poignant conversations she reported was with Dick Emery. She was in hospital have her thirteenth operation for cancer when he came through. Trying to make her laugh, he joked that the spirit world wanted her so much that they were taking her bit by bit.

In 1984 Doris was appearing before a huge audience, she heard a fimiliar voice amongst the spirits trying 'to get through'. She gasped with surprise and cryed out,"Oh no, Diana, that can't be you". Later that evening she checked with the local radio station and they told her that actress Diana Dors had just died after her courageous battle with cancer.

Doris Stokes always said there is no need to fear death. She spent a lifetime trying to get this message to as many people as possible.
