LEGGATT.  I can't go on like this!  (pause) I'm not afraid of prison or the gallows or whatever else they could do to me.  But going back to explain in front of a judge and jury what happened on board that ship...(shaking his head) That's something I cannot do.  Won't do!  What do they know about sailing a ship?  How can they know whether I'm guilty or not -- or of what I'm guilty?  That's my affair.  What does the Bible say?  'Driven off the face of the earth?'  So be it.  As I came at night so shall I leave.
