About Breast Cancer




What is breast cancer?
Breast Cancer is second leading cause of the death from cancer
in North American women (Lewis et al., 2000).
National Cancer Institute of Canada & Canadian Cancer Statistics(2000),
predicted that approximately 20,500 cases of breast cancer
would occure in Canadian women in 2002, and about 5,400 would die from the disease.
According to them, one of every nine Canadian women will develop breast cancer,
and one of twenty-seven will die from this disease during their lifetime in general.


Signs and Symptoms of Breast Cancer

Any new lump in the breast

Dimpling or puckering in the skin

Change in orange colour

Unusual pain

Change in the size or the shape of the breast

Nipple retraction

Itching and buring sensation near the nipple area

Bloody or clear discharge from the nipple
