Outreach Projects

The Sun Region Chapters continue to participate in the creation of Habitat Samplers for the new homes built around Florida.

With the approach of summer, life slowed down for many of the guilds.

One new project that several guilds in our region are doing is the "Kissing Pillows".  There is an article in the NeedleArts, March, 2007, page 34.  It was submitted by the Yellow Rose Chapter in Texas.  There will be another article in the June issue.  The small pillows are given to servicemen/women who will be leaving their families.  They give the pillow that they have kissed to their children/loved ones as a symbol of their love or it can work the other way - the family kisses the pillow and sends it with the soldier.  Indian River Chapter and Sand Hill Crane Chapter are both participating in this project.  Please contact me or the Yellow Rose Chapter, EGA, if you have an interest in this project.

Several chapters are busy making Christmas ornaments and baby sets for area Hospitals and children's homes. Several new items being made are shrugs and lap robes for nursing homes.

This report may present new opportunities for your chapter based on what other chapters are doing at present. Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding an outreach thought, idea or project.
