nantah.com Owes Nantah Alumni A Clear Answer
In the last few days, many alumni would have received "An Open Letter To All Nantah Alumni" distributed by nantah.com. This letter was written by Mr Simon Yen who is not even a graduate of Nantah. He also has another letter published in the homepage of nantah.com.

Why does nantah.com censor the letters and articles of Professor KS Tan, Mr Yap Tian Song and some other Nantah alumni and yet extend great favouritism to someone who is neither a Nantah graduate nor a celebrity?

nantah.com owes Nantah alumni a clear answer to the question given above.

Summary: One of the Nantah Websites could be auctioned for $M
Excerpt:

Hello fellow alumni,

For the past few months, I have opportunities to visit most of the Nantah related web sites. Every one has its own merits. All did a good jobs and hope will keep it up.

We are now living in a borderless Internet environment with a powerful tool for communications. In the old days, even now, to some extend media (TV, newspaper and radio) still controlled and manipulated by certain group of people. But internet changes that landscape.

From artistic (web design) and freedom of speech point of view, I don't agree to restrict to single web site.

Who knows, may be one day, one of the sites could be auctioned for millions of dollars.

From system point of view. I do agree physically not to duplicate common database such as alumni address database.

Summary: Editorial Policy is weak.
Excerpt:

I lost no time in visiting your website and those others mentioned in editorials and articles. I now have a fair picture of the views expressed and the news reported by the various Nantah Alumni Associations.

I must say I'm impressed with your output. I like your approach. I believe your editorials and your choice of articles will make www.nantahfriends.com lively and popular. I also find some of your views refreshing and thought provocative. With all these attractive features, I'm confident that your website will have a reasonable chance of attracting many a visitor.

While I share your view of the need to keep www.nantahfriends.com as an Independent Voice for Nantah alumni and friends, I feel there is also a need to reaffirm our unflagging commitment to uphold the image of Nantah, to keep the Spirit of Nantah alive and burning and to declare our stand and our views on various issues relating to our Alma Mater.

I have noted your editorial policy as proposed in your Notice Board. It sounds okay to me. At least it is a declaration of noble and good intention. If it is not specific enough to guide in concrete situation or on specific subject e.g. whether it is necessary to allow debate on controversial issues in order to promote understanding, the policy can be revised and amended in the light of experience gained subsequently.

I suggest that the proposed policy be tentative subject to revision later.
