The golf course is great for golfers of all skills. However, the course is a tale of two sides. The back nine, the original nine, was built in 1920, while the front nine wasnt built until the 1970s. Every hole on the front is straight, except one, and relatively wide open. There are three ponds on the front, but only one really comes into play just right of the par 5 9th green. The hardest hole on the side is the 424-yard par 4 3rd hole. With a narrow green sloping away on all sides and two greenside bunkers, the approach shot with a mid iron is one of the toughest on the course. In contrast, the back nine is much tighter with the trees being much bigger and out of bounds coming into play on six of the nine holes. The courses signature hole is the 244-yard par 3 15th hole. The green sits just beyond a valley with trees right, bushes left, and out of bounds long. A par on this hole feels like a birdie. The course can play anywhere from 6300 yards to 5200 yards. The course rating and slope from the back tees are 70.0 and 116 respectively.
Tee times are required on the weekends from April to October and on all Holidays until 3 p.m. Times can be reserved by calling the Pro Shop at 618-262-5771.
The pro shop is fully stocked with equipment from Ping, Callaway, Titleist, Cleveland, Ashworth, FootJoy, Liz Golf, and several other small companies. The course offers gift certificates for any amount for both golf and merchandise. The snack bar in the shop is stocked with chips, candy bars, nuts, crackers, and several other small snacks. In addition to the snacks, the snack bar also has hot dogs, polish sausages, cheeseburger links, and breakfast sandwiches. The snack bar has Gatorade, bottled water, and fountain Pepsi products to drink. Although the golf course doesnt sell alcoholic beverages, they are permitted on the course.
