Minutes of Morris Modified Register meeting held on Thursday 20th
of February at Jon’s joint, 2F King St. Oakleigh.

Meeting opened: 9:10pm

President (Richard):
Hope you all got your magazines; I had them all done a month ago, but had some last minute entries and some postage issues as well. An edited version was posted to the MMCCV editor for the Generator, but there was too much space taken up by the AGM stuff.
Jon Giles has a couple of things to say tonight as well.
There will be no drive in night this year. There’s not much to report on, most of it was said in the newsletter. The most recent newsletter is not on the website yet. We still need to work out the calendar for this year’s events. The MGCC wouldn’t let us run at their Calder Night Sprints, as there were a lot of entries from within the club and no vacancies.
David Floyd will now be providing us with the calendar from the Alfa Club regarding their events for this year, particularly Sandown in May.
There are still a few renewals due, and we can’t pay our CAMS fees without all the renewals. So far only 5 people are financial and we still need another $185 to pay our CAMS affiliation fees. There are no new members.
I printed the article from CAMS regarding the use of leaded racing fuel or Avgas. The ‘Fuel Passbook’ which enables you to purchase Avgas will cost $40.00, these are available from CAMS. I have been in communication with CAMS regarding this issue and speaking against the passbook system…. not that it matters anyway because high octane leaded fuel will be banned completely by 2005. I suspect that some
kind of secret deal has been struck there and after all the bullshit it appears that we’ve only been given an extension on what was initially a ban as of this year. Question from the floor... “What sort of fuel are the planes going to run on?” …. (they will still run on Avgas).

Vice President (Trevor):
No calls have been received through our ad in Unique Cars. There was one last year and they were directed to the website.

Secretary (Daryl):
No mail, apart from the bank statements.
Went to Rob Roy two weeks ago as a track marshal for the MGCC and had a good time. It was pretty hot and I had a good spot halfway up the hill where three was a fair bit of action. No serious smashes this time except for an open wheeler (Swift), which came off the track whilst trying for the outright record and damaged the radiator in the process.
The Australian Motorsport Show is on this weekend at the Royal Exhibition Buildings in Carlton, everything involved with motorsport will be there, including a few famous names and cars. Is there any interest in us going as a club? (apparently not).

Bairnsdale Report:
In the absence of the honourable member for Bairnsdale, alas, there was no report.

General Business:
Jon Giles’ odd spot….
Currently working on the concept of a future project vehicle, which will have to happen very soon. A motorkhana/rallycross/ crash’n’bash speedway car. There’s a track just outside of Bendigo where once a year you can go there, pay a small fee and just go ballistic. There’s no rules to speak of and no scrutineering or any of that rubbish to worry about.
The concept car would get Nissan running gear, probably a 120Y job, and it can be a club car…. or we can form two opposing teams within the club and compete against each other. It only happens one weekend a year on an autocross style track and shouldn’t be too hard to build up a little crapper to blow some doors off, literally.
Martin Fritzlaff said that “there is a website called the Minor Maniacs, (no, not some paedophile ring) and they are based in NZ. We were a little too late to register that one.” (Registering a dot com name costs about $70.00 every two years, so we wouldn’t have done it anyway… Pres.).

2003 Committee Elections:
All current members of the committee have decided to re-stand and were elected unopposed.

Special thanks: Lloyd Harrington (uncle) for the cakes and sweets. Thanks to Jon Giles for the venue, the
charcoal BBQ and the entertainment.

Meeting declared closed at: 10:30pm.
