VizPaint2D and other Wavefront products create and manipulate images of various formats, resolutions, and encoding schemes. The image configuration file lets you set defaults for these parameters, so that you can create and manipulate images in the manner that best suits your environment.
The file /usr/aw/userconfig/.imfrc is the standard image configuration file. This file is automatically created (if it does not already exist) when you install VizPaint2D. This is a template file only, and you may wish to customize it for your environment. Since the image configuration file is in ASCII format, you can modify it using a text editor such as vi.
We recommend that you use the same image configuration file on all of your computers, so that all users at your site create image files in a similar manner. This ensures that you will not encounter problems when trying to use each other's image files. However, if you find it necessary, you can create your personal copy of the .imfrc file in your home directory. If it exists, this file is used instead of the standard one.
