Order of Calibration Steps

Check Posture

  1. Check from the side when the actor is standing in a normal, relaxed stance. Adjust hips, then back, then head.
  2. Check from the front, adjusting for twist.

Check Arms

  1. Ask the actor to extend arms straight out to the sides, thumbs pointing out (down z axis). Adjust arm scales until just before the arms begin to bend
  2. Ask the actor to bend elbows so that arms from an "L" shape, hands up (parallel to y axis). If the model's upper and lower joints are not nearly perpendicular, adjust appropriate shoulder's x translation offset. You can also adjust the arm's sensor rotations.
  3. Ask the actor to put arms straight out in front. If hands are not even, adjust shoulder's Y translation offset.
  4. Ask the actor to put hands together in front of chest in a prayer position. Adjust X, Y, and Z translations of shoulder offsets until hands line up. Adjust wrist X, Y, and Z rotations as well.

Check Legs

  1. Ask the actor to do knee-bends as described above. Adjust scale, Y translation of Offset3 filter, and Y rotation offset of leg sensors.
  2. Ask the actor to raise each leg (one at a time) so that upper leg is parallel to floor (straight out in front), and lower leg is perpendicular to floor (and upper leg). Adjust Y rotation offset of leg sensors.
  3. Ask the actor to stand straight. Adjust X and Z rotations of leg sensors to pull the character's legs apart or pull them together as necessary, and to adjust (from side) the ankle positions from front to back.
