Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is regarded as one of the great Qawwali voices of our time. Qawwli style derives from Pakistan and serves a religious purpose primarily, trance music that endlessly repeats the name of God. His group is respected throughout the Islamic world. This is an edited version of the song. The full version can be found on the album Shahen-Shah which means "Bright Shining Star", the title Nusrat has been given.

Abida Parveen is Pakistan's most famous female singer, excelling in both the slower Ghazals or romantic songs, to fever-pitched Qawwali, the devotional music of Sufism. She was born in 1957 in Larkana, Pakistan, and has been performing for over twenty years. Her expressive style and three-octave vocal range have led critics to dub her the "Oum Kulthoum of Pakistan".

DESCRIPTION:
Michael Stearns is a keyboard player/synthesist/producer, who here gives an interesting treatment to a sixteenth century classical Indian songform, with the late Indian singer Viji Subramaniam. The song, a composition by the Indian mystic Saint Mira Bhai, who was one of the greatest devotees of the god Krishna, is sung with great depth and subtlety and Stearns' keyboard treatment sensitively complements her voice.
