Linking 'Shenoys of Kaup' Around The World.

Brief History:

The history goes back to 18th century when Rukmayya Shenoy s/o Laxman Shenoy migrated to Kaup, a small coastal village between Mangalore and Udipi, in search of better life.  He established his root in this place and today his family tree has grown so large that its branches have spread all over the world.  Therefore, it is impossible for any one to keep track of who is who and probably it will be even more difficult for the future generation to know about their ancestor's culture and tradition..  This web site has been designed to alleviate this problem and dedicated to all our ancestors.

Kaup Shenoys have some unique identity that perhaps most of us know as it was passed on to us especially during the traditional thread ceremony.  This ceremony  is normally performed when a male child become adolescent.  This identity is listed below.

While many of us have our above identity, there may be people who have adopted new identities by virtue of their success and endeavor in the new place of living.  Among us there are successful Businessmen, Doctors, Physists, Scientists, Engineers, Lawyers, Banking and Commercial executives and all of us at some point like to pay tribute to our parents and ancestors as a token of respect and honor. Here is one such opportunity to express that everybody can share. Send a page about your parents along with scanned copy of their portrait for display. If any one who wants to further investigate his or her root, all that one should do is plan a vacation trip or pilgrimage to this holy land.  There are so many nice things to see around including a 20th century British built light house on the Kaup beach, a small abandoned Tipu Sultan's fort who ruled the province during 18th century.  Udipi, a holy town where spiritual guru Madhwacharya had established and dedicated a temple for Lord Krishna, is only 8 miles from Kaup.

There is a separate page for you to write your comments or suggestions so as to improve the communication between different families.  In this page you can also send your message on important family celebrations and events along with pictures so that it can be posted on the News and Events page that you wouild like to share with other family members.

Currently, we are in the process of generating a comprehensive directory of all existing Kaup Shenoy's a step towards developing an universal link. Therefore, if you are a member of Kaup Shenoy family (including married daughters), please fill out this update-form that will automatically append the directory and also let you have an updated copy.
