Anandaray and Sharada Shenoy:

Kaup Anandraya Shenoy was born in Jan, 1917., and took over the responsibilities of all the community services soon after the sad demise of his father Kaup Sridhar Shenoy in 1954 who was the Village Patel as well as Managing Trusty of S.V.Temple and Mariamma Temple.  During his tenure in the next four decades, he was actively involved in a number of community development activities such as; starting a high school in the premises of Mariamma Temple in 1964, providing monetary assistance to all school going kids for their school supplies, working as an arbitrator to resolve disputes among villagers, guiding local administrators to improve services.  Beside his duty as a village Patel, he was a businessman by profession. He had helped a number of individuals in and around Kaup to start up their own business by providing them with all the necessary initial capital.  Many working families had interest free credit in his shop.  He built a few living quarters to over come the shortage of dwelling houses in the town.  Thus, every family in every community in the village were connected to him either through business or through his social activities.  He was a non-politician and treated every body with respect and honor.  He passed away on March 14, 2004., but, his legacy is taken over by his 5th son, Sridhar Shenoy who bears his fathers name. Thus the family tradition will continue in the current as well as future generation.

Kaup Sharada Shenoy was a dedicated housewife raising 10 kids and helping her husband in all areas of his endeavor.  She passed away on August 14, 2002 leaving behind her husband, children, grand and great grand children.  She was a very virtuous and talented woman.  Even in her 80's she was leading her Saturday bhajan performance at our temple regularly where a number of young kids were guided for the past two decades to carry on with our tradition.  She was most sought after for her honorary Astrological consultation (walk in any time) by our community at large.  This service is offered even today using a computer program developed embedding her years of experience. Her spirit runs through not only in our family but also in the entire community.
