I was
born in Heraclion Crete in 1966, and grew
up in a family who always had an
excellent relationship with dogs. At a
very early age, I was lucky to learn the
skills of hare hunting from my father,
who passed his first class knowledge and
love for hunting dogs on to me. |
|
As a
hunter for many years, I have come across
different breeds of hunting dogs, an
among those, I tried to identify the best
one; the one tha suited my way of hunting
(in close contact with the dogs), and my
idiosyncracies. |
|
Also as a
hunter, breeder and trainer of hare
hounds, I realized that for someone who
wants a close, controlled and effective
hunt, the best choise is the Cretan Hound. |
|
However
the dramatic decline in the numbers of
purebred individuals belonging to this
exceptional, important and ancient Cretan
breed, has made it more difficult to
locate and aquire quality dogs, a fact
which led many Cretan hunters to seek out
other breeds. |

|
During the last
few years, an attempt has been made to save and
revive the Cretan Hound, bringing to light some
very good dogs, who will be used as a basis for
selective breeding programme, with the aim of
impoving and developing this breed. |

The
dogs we are breeding are a result of those
efforts, and we have been lucky enough to own
some top specimens, descenting from rare and
first rate hunting blood, with
an even temperament,
exellent morphology, and exeptional
stamina, health and physical condition.
These qualities make our dogs passionate,
tireless and effective hunters, and at
the same time well behaved in the house. YIANNIS
