Lecture Hall
Physical Sciences Lecture Hall

Sometimes I get the exact shot that I envisioned. This is the roof and pavement of the Physical Sciences Lecture Hall. The wind was barely strong enough to lift the camera. When it shifted, it brought the camera over the roof and I realized the potential for an abstract composition.

Observatory
The UCI Observatory

The observatory houses a 24-inch telescope. It is located on an undeveloped part of the campus.

The dome is surrounded by a fence and gravel.

The Chancelors residence
The Chancelers residence

This was the site of my first test flights of the kite before the construction started. A year later, the residence of the chancelor is being constructed.

Multipurpose Building
The Multipurpose building for Science and Technology

Another building under construction. Strangely, the walls of the two-story building were constructed first, giving it an 'empty box' look.

Fred. Reines Building
The Fred. Reines Building

Maybe one of the nicest buildings on the UCI campus. I was encouraged by the earlier result from the lecture hall and positioned the kite above the roof. The wind was strong enough to lift the camera up high and I took several pictures.

This is the angle I like most. The round shape of the roof is repeated in the pavement in front of the building.

Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) uses kites to lift a remote controlled camera to modest heights above the ground. It features lower viewpoints than photos from airplanes and shows familiar objects from an unfamiliar angle.
