| One of the things that I particularly like about the WoT series is its detail. We may first meet people who seem insignificant in the first book only to find out a lot more about them in the later books. The setting, characters and societies over the nine books grow and develop to become almost real, and Robert Jordan keeps suspense high by often taking a long time to come back to a certain story thread - even so I have no doubt that he will eventually wrap up all those loose threads which cause much world-wide debate. |
Another element of the series that I enjoy is the way Robert Jordan doesn't paint his characters in simple black and white. The heroes aren't flawless and invincible, and the 'baddies' all have interesting sides. There are a lot of grey areas with Jordan's characters and many are hard to place in either the good or evil camps.
