Stone sour was started by Corey Taylor and drummer Joel Ekman in the early '90's in Des Moise Iowa. They did half orginals and half covers. They release a coupe EPs but nothing full length. Corey was a fan of Slipknot who at the time were competeing with Stone Sour as the top Metal/rock act in Iowa. Corey said that one day he would be the singer of that band. One day Slipknot approached Corey to join while he was working at the porn shop and Corey did. That was the end of Stone sour for the time being. Jim eventually joined Slipknot and some of the remaining members became roadies for Slipknot. Stone Sour is fronted by Corey Taylor, unmasked, and Jim Root on guitar, unmasked, Josh Rand also on guitar, Shawn Economaki playing bass, and Joel Ekman on drums. Stone Sour has the singles, Bother which has even reached the top 40 radio. Bother was written by Corey years ago and when he heard about the Spiderman movie coming out he claimed he had to have a song on it. Bother is preformed by Corey solo with an acoustick guitar. Get Inside which offers heaviness and singing in a unique blend. Stone Sours next single which will be Inhale. Inhale like Get Inside blends some heavy riffs with melotic riffs and singing. This song has very good potential for Stone Sour. Stone Sour debut, self titled album was released on Aug. 27 a 364 days after IOWA was released last year, on Roadrunner Records, only a week after Joey's sideproject Murderdolls.
