British Crown, during the American Revolution, the
history of which may be found in the muster rolls at

Southern slave holding states, Felkins family members
served in the Union Military as Abolitionists.
My brother, Michael Roy Felkins served three tours of

The first two Bragg children, both sons, died in
childhood, while the six girls all lived well into their
90's; Clarine, (Clara), Viola, (Cynthia), Alice, Bertha
Louise, Lyzette, (Elizabeth), and Edith Bragg. Alice
Louella Slosson/Slawson/Slauson was the daughter of
Charles Slosson/Slawson/Slauson and Harriet Louise Chase:

The Distinguished Service Cross
CAPTAIN WILLIAM C. FELKINS
RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS FOR HEROISM AGAINST
NAZIS IN WWII EUROPEAN THEATRE OF WAR
Captain William Felkins, Jr., Receives the Distinguished
Service Cross from the President of the United States of
America, posthumously,
". . . for extraordinary heroism in connection with
military operations against an armed enemy. . ."
...The Presidents' Distinguished Service Cross Awarded To
Captain William Felkins, Jr., posthumously, 22 September,
1943...
Award of the Distinguished Service Cross. By direction of
the President, under the provisions of AR 600-45, 22
September 1943, as amended, and under authority contained
in Circular No. 32, Headquarters European Theater of
Operations, United States Army, 20 March 1944,as amended,
the Distinguished Service Cross is awarded to: *Captain
WILLIAM C. FELKINS, JR., 387th Field Artillery Battalion,
United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action
against the enemy on 31 October 1944 and 1 November 1944,
in Holland.
Captain FELKINS, displaying great personal courage,
voluntarily led a patrol across a river and into
dangerous enemy territory to drive off hostile troops and
tanks which had taken a heavy toll of an isolated
infantry battalion. He personally adjusted a devastating
artillery concentration upon the enemy positions which
killed many Germans and forced the withdrawal of several
tanks. As the artillery fire lifted, Captain FELKINS,
with complete disregard for his own personal safety,
advanced far ahead of the patrol while subjected to
intense machine gun fire. As he prepared to lead a charge
upon the enemy, he was fatally wounded. Captain FELKINS'
heroic actions resulted in the safe withdrawal of 120
men, many of whom were severely wounded, and enabled two
companies to maintain their critical position until the
main bridgehead was later established. Captain Felkins
Entered military service from Alabama.

In Memory of Chet Atkins:
1924-2001 'Chester Burton Atkins'
died after beating cancer for
decades, Saturday, 30 June, 2001.
Services were held in Nashville,
Tennessee, Tuesday, 03 July, 2001
at Ryman Auditorium. Godspeed to
a great artist who will continue
to contribute his guitar art and
innovations throughout time.

Angelenos and others fondly
remember,and celebrate the life
of actor and Los Angeles
resident, Jack Lemmon who also
died this past week, June, 2001.
Jack Lemmon was a great pianist
and performer who will laughingly
be remembered by many as the bass
slapping/cross-dressing jazz
musician on the lam from
gangsters after having witnessed
the Saint Valentines' Day
Massacre in the classic movie,
SOME LIKE it HOT. I will always
love and happily remember him in
that performance because when I
was in elementary school in
Riverside, California, my entire
class, including my teacher, Ms.
Vivian Pace, was taken to a
birthday party showing of this
movie and a great time was had by
all. It was a party I will never
forget due to the personal
connection that my mother worked
with Marilyn Monroe and Bob
Mitchum at Rheem
Aircraft/Douglass Aircraft before
serving active duty during WWII
as well as attehding Geller's
Actor's Studio with Mitchum at
war's end. I will always be
grateful to Mr. Lemmon and Ms.
Monroe for such a great time and
such a great movie. It is one of
my favorite movies, and I will
continue to enjoy it at whim with
my mind's eye for the rest of my
life. Adios, Amigoes,
