The Himes Family

John Hoover*,born in 1801 Married Rebecca and had the following children:

* For some reason, they are listed as "Jacob and Matilda" on the census in 1850 (?) Jeremiah Hoover* Born in 1839 (est) in North Washington, Butler County, PA. The information below is from the 1850 Census:

Jacob (45)

Matilda (29)

Jeremiah (11)

Jacob (5)

In 1860, they are in Parker, Butler, PA:

John (48)

Martha (40)

Susan (17)

John (15)

Jacob (14)

Christian (8)

George (7)

Olive (2)

In 1861 Jeremiah enlists in the Union Army..His residence is listed as Jefferson county.

Jeremiah HooverIn 1864 or 1865 he marries Nancy Jane Donahey (daughter of George Dougherty Donahey and Anna Belle Myers). Jeremiah and Nancy settle in Millstone, Elk, PA. and had the following children:

Albert
Maud B.* Maud was the mother of my Great Grandfather Harry Arnold Himes
Arnold P.
Nettie O.
Alice G.
George W.
*In 1900 census,Harry Himes and Elmer Himes are living with grandparents along with Mollie M. Hoover who is 10.

When Jeremiah lived in Millstone, Elk, PA in 1870 His neighbor was John Hoover (believed to be his brother). John had a son named Edward and a daughter named Matilda.

Elmer Himes married Sarah and had: Edward,Walter,Emily,Hazel,Raymond and had sister in law Katherine Miller living with them in 1910.Was this Lottie's sister???
This branch of the family is proving to be a huge challenge. With me stuck here in the UK, it's difficult to research anything further.
