Main Duties

 

Managed the installation and modification of a Job Management/Source Control software system

Liased with the vendor of the OSCAR system to discuss system modifications and enhancements.

Evaluate and recommend the replacement of the existing source code version control system MKS Revision Control System (RCS) with a Job Management/Source Control software system, OSCAR.

Evaluate and recommend the automation of system testing with an automated software regression tool, SQA TeamTest.

Provide an automated testing environment using the automated software tool linked to the Job Management/Source Control software system.

Install and enhance the Job Management/Source Control software system.

Create a Change Control process for using the installed recommended software systems.

Provide an automated process for the printing of Client Release Notes

Assist in the installation of the automated regression test tool SQA TeamTest.

Project Scope

Re-engineer the Configuration and Change Management processes within the company’s development and testing environments.

The Company

Solace Technologies are vendors of Retail Banking Systems, located in Australia, South Africa, and Malaysia, and have been operating since 1993.

 The Australian company had Configuration and Change Management problems in managing their development life cycle software for five major client companies.

Project Management Achievements

Managed the installation and modification of the OSCAR  Job Management/Source Control software system;
Liased with the vendor of the OSCAR system to discuss system modifications and enhancements;
Recommended the installation of automated testing tools;
Liased with the vendors of the automated test tools;
Coordinated the development environment towards the use of the OSCAR system;
Coordinated the testing environment towards the new automated testing approach;
Achieved the successful implementation of the configuration system and automated test tools.

Configuration and Change Management activities

Evaluate and recommend the replacement of the existing source code version control system MKS Revision Control System (RCS) with the OSCAR system;
Evaluate and recommend the automation of system testing with an automated software regression tool, Rational Software's  SQA TeamTest;
Provide an automated testing environment using the automated software tool linked to the Job Management/Source Control software system;

Analyst/Programmer activities

Developed Unix scripts to manage the use of the OSCAR system within the company.  This involved creating new menus in OSCAR to interact with the Unix scripts and set up specific environments for Release Packaging, Escrow system backup packaging, QA Testing of current and prior releases of software, and System Data unloads.  Menu interfaces to each Progress data dictionary were also created in the OSCAR system.

Developed Unix scripts for the testing regression tool to use to link to the OSCAR environment for QA unit testing and also for system regression testing.

Developed an MS Access system with ODBC link to the OSCAR system to manage the release of software to the clients, and to automatically produce client Release Notes (a task that previously would take up to 11 hours to complete).
