Main Duties

Managed the coordination of key personnel from both SRG and DataSell.

Managed 10 project staff.

Created a process methodology and Configuration/Change Management infrastructure.

Organised the clean up of the SRG LAN software environment.

Initiated a number of software interfaces to manage/assist the methodology and infrastructure changes.

Achieved the Y2K requirements.

Identified and recorded all configurable software items.

Removed duplication and redundancy within the identified software systems and common code libraries.

Created LAN directory structures for managing the migration of software between the Development, Testing, and Production stages of the SDLC.

Enforced a LAN security process (using LAN rights permissions) for the migration of source code through the SDLC stages.

Created a manual Change Control process, with documentation, to manage the migration of source code through the SDLC stages.

Initiated a number of software interface requirements to assist SRG to overcome some “grey areas” with managing their software environments.

Attended senior management meetings and made software and process change recommendations

Project Scope

Initially to manage Y2K activities, the company had Configuration and Change Process issues that directly impacted the completion of the Y2K project.  Additional tasks involved the setup of a Configuration and Change Management process to manage all software for SRG, effectively creating an infrastructure and methodology as a foundation for a future systems development life cycle (SDLC) process.

The Company

Simon Richards Group (SRG) is a multi-million dollar tele-marketing and advertising company linked to the Village/Roadshow and Austerio companies.  SRG also acquired another tele-marketing company, DataSell Strategic Marketing Services, at York Street South Melbourne.

 The main programming language environments are Visual Foxpro and MS Access97.

Project Management activities

I managed the Y2K process and infrastructure restructure for both SRG and DataSell, with a contract staff of  8, and two staff from Village/Roadshow.  The contract was initially scheduled to complete in 5-6 weeks, extended to 3.5 months.

Configuration and Change Management activities

Identified and recorded 592 MS Access97 systems, 3374 Foxpro programs, 9773 Foxpro databases and 1115 Zip files as configurable software items.
Removed duplication and redundancy within the identified software systems and common code libraries.
Identified and grouped Foxpro programs into client systems.
Created LAN directory structures for managing the migration of software between the Development, Testing, and Production stages of the SDLC.
Enforced a LAN security process (using LAN rights permissions) for the migration of source code through the SDLC stages.
Created a manual Change Control process, with documentation, to manage the migration of source code through the SDLC stages.
Initiated a number of software interface requirements, with the assistance of the project team, to assist SRG to overcome some “grey areas” with managing their software environments.
Attended senior management meetings and made software and process change recommendations.

Analyst/Programmer activities

Created MS Access systems to:
 Manage the reporting and tracking of all SDLC activities.
Record system requirements, and print SRG Requirement Specification documents for client sign-off.
Assist SRG in recording and tracking their hardware and software assets.
Catalogue MS Office file types for easy retrieval from the LAN.
