John "Jobber" McGrath

Westmeath hurling legend John "Jobber" McGrath (1928-1980) finished his playing career with Lough Lene Gaels.  He won a J.H.C medal with the club in 1973.  His glorious playing career has already been detailed elsewhere.  For the record he won S.H.C. medals with Rickardstown in 1954, 1959 and 1963.  He played hurling for Leinster, winning Inter-Provincial (Railway Cup) medals in 1954 and 1956.

Matty Conaty

Loyal club player who served as club secretary from 1971 to 1991 inclusive.  When the Westmeath hurling board was reformed in 1982 after a lapse of 12 years, Matty was elected as its secretary. 

Noel Briody

Long serving club member and club chairman from 1985 to 1997 inclusive.  Excellent underage coach and trainer who, along with Bernie Conaty, Tom McNicholas and John O'Farrell masterminded the club to win 12 underage championships across four grades of hurling from 1987 to 1997 inclusive.  Noel coached Lough Lene Gaels to win Division 3 of the Leinster Minor Hurling League in the year 2000.

Feichin Flynn

Top class administrator who served as club chairman in the early 1980's including the GAA centenary year of 1984.  He stepped down as club chairman at the end of 1984 going on to serve as vice-chairman of the Westmeath Hurling board from 1985 to 1991 inclusive.  Feichin was chairman of the Westmeath Hurling board from 1994 to 1999 inclusive.  During his stewardship of the Hurling board a massive �72,000 debt was reduced to �20,000 whilst still ensuring that all adult hurling teams representing Westmeath were fully prepared.

James Weldon (SNR)

Played hurling with the Cummerstown, Clann Lir(Crookedwood) and Glenidan clubs.  He served the Glenidan club as an official following his retirement as a player in the early 1950's until the Glenidan club merged with the Collinstown hurling club to form Lough Lene Gaels in 1969.  A serving club president at the time of death in January 2000, James was also a member of the club's Bingo committee.  He assisted in fund raising every Tuesday night at the clubs bingo night in Collinstown Hall.
