Let's review what we've learned about changing the date and time:
The Date and Time Properties window is located in the Control Panel.
The first step in opening the Date and Time Properties window is to open the Start Menu, go to the Settings submenu and select Control Panel (older versions of Windows) or open the Start Menu and select Control Panel (Windows XP).
In the Control Panel of older versions of Windows, double-click on the Date/Time icon to open the Date and Time Properties window. In Windows XP, click on Date, Time, Language and Regional Options to open that window and then click on "Change the date and time" under "Pick a task..." or double-click on the Date and Time icon under "or pick a Control Panel icon."
To change the date, click on the Date & Time tab to open that section, then select a month from the list. Next, change the year either by selecting it and then typing the correct year or by selecting it and then using the up or down arrows. Click on the correct day in the calendar box. Finally, click on either the Apply button (to keep the properties window open) or the OK button (to close the properties window).
To change the time, click on the part of the time (in the box) you want to change (hour or minutes, for example) and then use the up or down arrows. To change AM and PM, click in that section of the box and then on the up or down arrow. Finally, click on either the Apply button (to keep the properties window open) or the OK button (to close the properties window).
To change the time zone, click on the Time Zone tab if the Date and Time Properties window has one. Whether or not the properties window has a Time Zone tab, select the correct time zone from the list. (If there is no Time Zone tab, the time zone list will be below the date and time.) Click either the Apply button or the OK button.
To close the Date and Time Properties window without making any changes, click the Cancel button.
