SRR Ra`KalenChapter Sixty-Four: Ragarok Volunteers
[Kalen]

tr'Ragarok still was toying around in his science lab, going over past readings and running simulations. Suddenly, the klaxons went off, startling tr'Ragarok and making him drop the cube he was holding. "By tetra-sulfate, what's going on now?" Donal moved the test tubes and small electronic components from the monitoring panel, and began to observe the reports.

"Cloaked mine field, eh? Let's see what we can do about that." tr'Ragarok cracked his knuckles, and ran a few more scans to observe any errant readings that might have been overlooked. "Hmm, seems like a standard issue primitive cloak, and not a temporal cloak or anything fancy like that. Lemme think... AHA! Science to Bridge"

Raith answered his call in a hurried tone. "What is it, Science, we're a bit busy up here with bombers"

tr'Ragarok grinned a little. "Ah, as I thought. Listen, rekkhai, I may have a way to get through the mine field, and turn it to a minor advantage. It'll require quite a pilot though."

Raith responded after barking a few more orders. "Continue."

"I'm already at work modifying three probes- one with a small tachyon generator, one with normal probe scanning equipment, and one with a small tractor pulse generator. Because the mine field is cloaked and designed to remain hidden, it has to remain autonomous, so the enemy's fighters and ships will only have data on their initial placement, since they have no way to gain constant updates on their position without giving away a location." tr'Ragarok's voice sped up a bit. "If I use the three probes, one will reveal the location, briefly, so that I can use the sensor data from the other and the tractor beam generator on the other probe to move them at least enough so some can get through. I will have to continually monitor and make adjustments, however, and whoever wants to get through it will have to be constantly adjusting to my readings. Even one small mistake could cause the ship to hit a cascade of the mines. However, the movement of the mines will also give us the advantage of knowing where the mines are, while the enemy thinks they are in a different place."

"Ie-" Raith pauses to grip the bulk head as a errant plasma torpedo bounces off the shields." We wont be able to do that from here- we are engaged at the moment... Can you set up on the Sketh?" Raith looks down at Ku.

"Uhh... my lab and all is here rekkhai," Ragarok replies" probably but..."

"Good." The commander nods to his tac officer.

"Huh...?!!" Ragarok's voice drifts off the com. Raith turns to Elq. "Site to site transport complete rekkhai- I told them he is coming."

Raith nods to the Eredh and is jolted off his feet again. "By the Bird! Mehlek! Keep us out of their fire!" The erie`Riov slides back into his chair. "Tactical- lets lighten up the opposition!"

Tr'Remi sits at his console checking the vital stats of the ship. A yellow alert banner scrolls across his screen. Continues checking.

Computer>Security breech

Tr'Remi>Source?

Computer>Unknown external source

Tr'Remi>::attempts to override.:: &%@#&!

Computer>Access denied.

Remi moves to a systems control panel and removes the face plate. Stares at the tangle of wires for a moment in deep thought. He then reaches his hand into the jungle of wires and with deadly precision tears a fistful out of their ports.

ACTION> Lights on the whole ship dim as red alert lights flash on

Tr'Raith>+taps+ Remi what the hell is going on down there!!??

Tr'Remi>+taps+ Sorry rekkhai. We had a rat problem.

Tr'Raith>+taps+ Source?

Tr'Remi>+taps+ Unknown external. Mostlikely those fine fellows who are firing upon us.

Tr'Raith>+taps+ Agreed.

Tr'Remi>+taps+ Might be a good idea to let Kuro know. The section breached was the transporters in the shuttle bay area. We may still have a rat problem.

Tr'Raith>Understood. Raith out.
