SRR Ra`KalenChapter Thirty-Seven: The Crew on Shore-Leave
[ch`Revellion]

Tr'Remi and tr'Elq are walking down an avenue in the red light district of the city. The two officers make there way into a bar a few minutes later and make they're way to an empty pool table on the far side of the room.

As tr'Elq is preparing to break, Remi realizes how little he really knows about his fellow officer. Over the past few months since Elq joined the Kalen---miraculously not in a sedated state with the Tac officer--they'd become friends but even tr'Remi, the lighthearted easy going CEO and chef had never been able to get much out of him about his past. All tr'Elq ever mentioned to him was that he came from one of the smaller cities on Romulus and something about joining the Rei'Kranssu three years ago after his mother died.

tr'Remi> say Sansi, you know we never really got to talking about life before we joined up.

tr'Elq> ::pauses for a moment before taking his next shot but does not look up:: what do you want to know?

tr'Remi> I was just curious how you ended up here. I mean why you got into the Rei'Krannsu and how you ended up on the Kalen. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to.

tr'Elq> :: pauses again for a moment before replying:: When I was a kid I lived with my mom. My dad died when I was real young and I don't really remember him. In fact, all I know about him was that he was an officer in the Galae. From what I understand he was killed in battle. I got pretty good with computers after awhile and managed to get into all kind of things; I'd get into a lot of trouble for if I was caught. But I could never get any information on how my father was killed. Those records don't follow the usually method of 23 factor polynomial equations, but use infinite sums that I couldn't break at the time, without training. There was no reason for me to stay on ch'revellion after my mother died-- so I figured that maybe if I joined the army I could get access to some information about my father.

They continue to discuss their pasts and drink as they play pool. After they come out of the bar a little later. They decide to walk around the city for awhile and explore it a bit since its still pretty early in the evening.

"Excuse me gents, but where are we going?" tr'Ragarok inquired whilst being held up by two burly security officers.

"WE are not going anywhere, Rekkhai, but you are going on vacation.", the taller of the two security officers remarked. "I have my orders to put you on the next transport down for shore leave. Something about 'Not wanting anymore purple alerts today'."

"That was purely in the interest of SCIENCE!" exclaimed the squirming Science officer. "I don't want to go on shore leave! I have too much work to do!" Despite the protests, the security officers continued on, arriving in the transporter room. "Why, I've got too many projects unattended! My positroinic brain I've been working, my subspace catapult, non-dairy creamer..."

"Activate" commanded the security officer, overtop of tr'Ragarok's list.

The transporter beam fired up, the scintilating cascade covering Donal, just as he started into explaining the theory on which the transporter operates. The beam appeared again on the streets of ch'Revellion.

"...on a quantum level." tr'Ragarok finished after materialized. "Hey... those campus security guys can be rough! Oh well, maybe I can find some natives to help me out. This place looks friendly." tr'Ragarok looked up at the sign on the Pub, the Mutilated Carcass. Donal continued on his conversation with no-one. "Hmm... I seem to have been transported onto a primitive planet. Well, the Romulan Prime Directive states that I should never interfere with a primitive culture, especially when it comes to time travel. WAITASECOND... Romulans don't have the Prime Directive! I can be so absent-minded sometimes! It's the Klingons that have the Prime Directive! So where does that leave me?" tr'Ragarok shrugged, threw his bag over his shoulder (which the security guards either didn't notice or simply deemed innocuous) and entered into the pub. tr'Ragarok surveyed the atmosphere. To any normal person, the ambiance of the establishment would have clearly said, "DANGER, DANGER Rihannsu" and make even the most battle hardened Rei'Krannsu shudder. Donal tr'Ragarok, however, was not a normal person, and as such, walked right up to the bar and asked, "Where can I get an isolytic converter?" The bartender looked at him strangely. Several of the patrons started to chuckle to themselves, and then walked up to tr'Ragarok.

T'Pranara> ::Pranara sat at the table eating dinner fiddling with it with her fork while in the Romulan Pub on ch'Revellion.::

Tr'Kuro> ::Kuro sips his rhenish from a cumbersome mug, looking around at the rowdy natives, before returning his gaze to t'Pranara.::

T'Pranara> ::Remembers visiting ch'Revellion before, but can't remember with who or when, maybe with her father perhaps. She looks at tr'Kuro at his large stature and thinks back to her kid napping, still feeling a bit odd about the whole situation::

Tr'Kuro> ::Feels he needs to explain and make amends, he pauses as he watches her, trying to think of a way to apologize, something he doesn't often need to do::

T'Pranara> ::Pranara who hasn't said much since her abduction decides on makeing some sort of conversation:: "You say tr'Raith ordered you to bring me here?"

Tr'Kuro> "Raith ordered me to take you to the ship, its not at dock due to some emergency, so I thought to bring you somewhere and get you a drink to make it up to you... though this isn't exactly what I planned"

T'Pranara> ::Looks back down at her dinner then back at Kuro:: "Where's tr'Raith now?"

Tr'Kuro> "On the ship, taking care of the problem I presume."

T'Pranara> ::Picks up her mug of rhenish and takes a sip, pulling a face and almost gagging, still not happy with answer. She had always wanted proof of what she heard:: "Oh I see." ::Finishes her dinner before laying her fork aside, before hearing a louder conversation going on at the Bar several feet away and becomes distracted from her male counterpart, as she feels she can put more trust in him::

Tr'Kuro> ::Finishes his sour dreg, setting the stein down, his eyes drift to see what has attracted her attention::

"Well, what have we here, boys?" asked a lumbering 6 and a half foot tall giant, who obviously had never even heard of a sonic shower let alone used one. "Looks like we got us a sissy, asking for all them big words."

"Actually, I was asking for an isolytic converter so that I can utilize it in *urk!*" tr'Ragarok was suddenly cut off by being picked up by the throat.

The unclean giant looked at the scrawny, unshaven science officer. "Let's see whats in that there bag"

One of the other brutes standing around grabbed tr'Ragarok's bag and looked in. "I don't see nothin', boss. I mean... nothin'."

"Well, look closer! Dat bag's to big to have nothin innit." The patron holding the bag put his head entirely inside the bag, and began to scream. Quickly, the would-be thief threw down the bag and ran out of the pub screaming at the top of his lungs. The bag collapsed to the floor.

"Oh, dear..." the bag dropped to the floor, released a floating opaque cube. The cube hovered for a second, bathed the room in a greenish- purplish glow, than flew towards the brute holding tr'Ragarok. The brute tossed tr'Ragarok to

the side to dodge out of the way of a now erratic cube. Patrons started standing from their seats. "Hey, my drink tastes like oil now!" and "This drink is terrible!" where just two of the sounds of outrage of the room. tr'Ragarok took this oppurtunity to grab his bag, and start towards the door. The bartender piped up.

"Get 'im! E's gettin' away, and his dohickey spoiled all ma drinks!" The patrons begin to edge towards tr'Ragarok, with homicidal expressions on their faces.

T'Pranara> "What was all that about?"

Tr'Kuro> ::To himself:: "Is that Ragarok?"

T'Pranara> "Ragarok? Who's he?"

Tr'Kuro> ::Stands:: By the elements... he's our science officer"

T'Pranara> ::Sips some more drink, before spitting it back in her glass, glaring at it:: "This stuff gets worse by the minute...Oh!" ::Stands also, relizing that she wasn't going to finish her drink, not that she desired too::

Tr'Kuro> ::Absently::Aye... ::Lays some random currency on the table:: "I'm sorry to cut this short. I'll be right back."

T'Pranara> ::Stands there looking confused::

Tr'Kuro> ::Watches Ragarok being persued, he follows them out, seeming to have forgotten her, then peers in:: "Coming?"

T'Pranara> "Ie I'm comming" ::Walks inbetween all the tables and follows Kuro out of the pub::

Tr'Kuro> ::He strides behind the mob, glancing back at her occasionally, not having to try to remain unnoticed::

T'Pranara> ::Catches up with Kuro:: "Your Science officer...eh..tr'Ragarok, does he usually get into this sort of trouble?"

Tr'Kuro> ::Shrugs:: "I would assume so if they let him into the public."

T'Pranara> "I see." ::Stuggles to keep up with tr'Kuro due to his lengthy strides due to his stature::

Tr'Kuro> ::Notes up ahead that their chase will soon end abruptly due to the wall that is ahead of the group, looking over at her again::

T'Pranara> ::Continutes to run along side beginning to hear the voices of the brawl ahead of them::

Meanwhile, outside, the screaming man runs by a bewildered tr'Remi, and tr'Elq who were not even aware that tr'Ragnarok was on the planet much less unchaperoned in a bad part of town.

Emerging from their amazement they head towards the source of the commotion and investigate.

A litttle down the road the two Rei'Krannsu officers emerge upon a curious scene. About thirty large and burly men from one of the lower class districts of the capital are standing together in a crowd, making a lot of noise as well as a highly unpleant stench. At the center of the mob, the huge men that mugged Ragnarok in the bar are holding him and screaming about their drinks--demanding that he rectify the situation. tr'Remi and tr'Elq are still about 100 feet from the crowd and stop to take stock of the situation, so far they haven't been noticed.

tr'Remi> ::in a low voice::we've got to do something quick

tr'Elq> yeah but what, killing thirty civillians, however foul is not going to look good in the morning.

tr'Remi> maybe we can distract them or scare them away.

tr'Elq:>How? There's too many to goat into splitting up. Even if we can distrat most of them they can still leave plenty back here to pummel tr'Ragnarok. This isn't going to be pretty.

While they're talking, the mob has decided to take Ragnarok, who is still babling on about some concept his captors could not understand in a million years, back with them and hold him---gagged--for ransom, in a final attempt to get some value for him and his gismo which they have learned the hard way not to handle.

Tr'Kuro> ::Sizes up the opponent force and realizes his obligation despite the odds, turns to her:: "See you in a few..." ::Growls and pushes his way into the crowd, many of them being thrown off gaurd by the sudden attack from such a large vicious adversary::

T'Pranara> ::Begins to worry about the whole situation, that tr'Kuro has decided to put himself into and raises a brow in curiosity::

Tr'Kuro> ::Confusion erupts as the mob begins to pulsate with violence. Limbs flail and screams are heard. At the same moment, Elq and Remi roll up their sleeves and thrash into the midst of the fighting::

T'Pranara> ::Unknowingly a Vulcan to herself with the fesieque of a Romulan female with the traditional hair cut of that day, walks around the violent mob unsure as to what to do....::

tr'Ragarok glanced around. Sure, there was a crowd of people around, all of whom were out for Donal's blood. And sure, his shipmates had just thrown themselves into the midst of innocent (OK, not really innocent at all) civillians just for the sake of saving his skin. None of it mattered, however. tr'Ragarok was interested in only one thing- THE RAGAROK OMNICUBE ENTROPY QUANTUM GENERATOR (ROCEQG, for short) WORKED! The implications raced through tr'Ragarok's mind, so he couldn't be bothered with such minor details as the huge brute holding him by the throat, saying that if tr'Ragarok didn't "call off his mates ye'll have to find a new way to breathe". Then it occured to the scrawny science officer- The device pinpointed all points of greatest entropy, so if he kicked right there... "ARGH!" yelled the hulking man, dropping the science officer. Donal glanced around, and spotted his shipmates. "Hi guys! Come to join the experiment?" yelled tr'Ragarok as he gleefully started to hit any weak point of the mob within arm's reach, making him a formidable opponent indeed. Of course, only he could percieve the entropic points, but that was merely a design flaw to be overcome in the next version...

T'Pranara watched the mob from where she was standing 30 or so feet away She didn't know what to do, and looked at the huge Men who where almost the equivelent in size to Tr'Kuro. If T'Pranara alowed herself to be seen by these men whilst standing alone her own safety might be compromised, so she quietly departed silently, looking behind her from time to time before she found refuge in the shadows that were now forming from the closing of the day with the setting of the sun of ch'Revellion.

From her hiding place where she nelt, she watched the mob from a distance where she could now only hear all the voices of the mob as one and could no longer hear any single converation going on. She continued to watch while alowing her mind wonder to her past. It had not yet been 48 hours since she remembered sitting within her dimlit quarters on SB 220. All she was doing was lieing on her couch reading a novel from her ISD when she was interrupted by a a chime at the door and she stood up from the couch leaving the ISD laying on the coffee table in front of her. "Enter." she said, expecting someone she knew to come in.

As the door opens T'Pranara sees a large dark figure siloweted against the bright light streaming in from the corridor outside her quarters compared to the sim light around her. "T'Pranara?" addressed the dark figure as he entered and approached her not saying a word more and she began to relize that she didn't recognise him as he approached more closely.

"le, who are you?" T'Pranara replied edging around the coffee table and couch for her disruptor on the near not to distant desk a few feet away. "What do you want?" she asks seeing the large man in front of her produce a hypospray. On relizing that this intruder was a threat she tried to aviod him as he closed in on her. Suddenly reliseing that he seemed to be breathing down her neck makes a lunge for the disruptor but feels the cold end of the hypospray against her exposed skin and she began to blank out, loosing control of the situation and fulling into the arms of Tr'Kuro who the intruder was who caught her. Next she rembered wakeing un in in a fighter along side him, who dropped her off her hours before.

She cleared her thoughts of the past events and consentrated on the mob in the distance in front of her. As the night krept in, so did the cold and she began to shiver.
