[RES Kalen ]
Meira sat beside her Aunt, a passive look on her face, although if
anyone really looked, they could see she was far from passive. She
stared straight ahead, oblivious to those around her. Den glanced over
at her neice, then Ruanek, who was looking at her with what could be
called a worried expression on his face. She also noticed the wince on
his face as he turned around in the pilot's chair.
Meira did na seem to notice his wincing as they headed back to the
ship. She headed back to her quarters, Den looking at her strangely,
but na following.
She keyed the lock and walked in, standing in the middle of the room,
growling. She started throwing things, screaming out as she threw. She
picked up anything she could find and threw it, so angry and hurting.
Stopping suddenly, but still angry, she looked around at all the broken
glass and pottery around her, hands balled at her sides, her knuckles
white. She turned around as the door chimed.
"Come in!" she growled loudly, glaring at the door. Ruanek walked into
the room, raising an eyebrow at all the mess on the floor.
"Trying to redecorate au quarters l'jaihn?" Ruanek smirked as Meira
growled again, trying to take deep breaths.
"Na! I am trying " Meira growled, throwing something else at the wall
"To take care of my anger, and na subject the crew to it" She said
looking at him, green eyes blazing.
"So au would rather subject me to it?" He said taking her hand, a
worried look in his eyes.
"I...do...na mean to, Ruanek. ...na sure how to..feel..." Meira replied
as she looked at him, still shaking. Her anger was starting to
disapate, now she felt sad and alone.
"l`jahn...au just found out that au aunt is alive...do au think that
maybe this...rumor that au parents are dead is just that? a rumor?"
Meira looked at him and nodded no, eyes welling up.
"Na, Jol. I would know and feel if they were alive. and they are na
living" Meira replied flatly.
"Oh Jol..I am sorry...." He replied, as he went to hug her. Meira
hugged him tightly, laying her head on his shoulder, crying silently.
Ruanek rubbed her back, frowning.
"It will be alright, Jol. I promise we will find out who did this...but
au have to focus on the mission..there will be time for revenge..." He
said tipping her chin so that she could look into her eyes. Meira
looked at him and nodded, sniffing.
"Ie. I know. and..I appologize for flooding au. I am trying to control
my emotions.." Meira replied, sniffing again, giving him a weak smile.
"It will be alright, Jol..." Ruanek smiled at her as she nodded.
"I will have to start to clean up this mess" Meira said slowly pulling
out of his arms and bending down to start to pick up some of the bigger
pieces. Ruanek bent down to help her when their com badges went off,
annoucing the meeting.
"I guess this will have to wait..." Meira replied as Ruanek smiled,
nodding.

Meira sat in the meeting, still surprised about getting a promotion.
She touched the pin absentmindedly. There was so much going on, so much
that she was confused. Raith had offered to tell both Meira and her
aunt atleast something that was happening after the meeting. As the
meeting adjurned, Meira and Den moved over to where Raith stood.
"Can au now tell me what in the Arrienne is going on?" Den replied
immediately. Meira waited for Raith to talk. She too was curious about
all of this.
"I suppose both of you would like to speak to me about the current
situation?" Both women nodded.
"Alright...let's go somewhere where we can discuss this privately"
Raith replied as Meira and Den followed him into the office. Den moved
into the office and watched Raith, Meira standing near by, her arms
crossed accross her chest.
"I suppose au want to know how I knew about the kidnapping?" He
replied, looking at both women.
"Firstly I knew about this kidnapping plot a month in advance..." Raith
said stroking his beard as both women looked at him shocked. Meira
started to say something as Raith held up his hand to stop her.
"I am one of many catalysts of it..." he replied as Meira tried to
interrupt again.
"Let me explain, Meira....then you can speak" He replied as Meira
grumbled. Raith turned to look at Den.
"Do you au have any idea who I work for or who I am?" then he turned
back to Meira.
"And au...do au really know what is happening on this ship?" he asked
Meira who shook her head na.
"I had to make it look like Meira was dead so that would influence au
to go and find Toma...and in turn let au guard down so that the Tal
Shiar could kidnap au" Raith replied as Den looked at him.
"Then this would make the SSS try and kidnap au also..which would make
them over confident"
"But why would they want me? I am na to neither one..." Den said
looking at Raith again, who looked down.
"They did na want au..the Tal Shiar is trying to assasinate Toma. they
wanted au to be a tool against him. Kazan hates him....and the SSS was
hoping au would lead him into a war with the Empire.." Den blinked
looking at him.
"Great elements..they wanted me to kill him.." She replied, shaking her
head as Meira looked at the two of them. Raith nodded.
"Kazan needs the support of the people..and Toma's death..who the
people think a traitor to the Empire, would bring her that support..."
"Ie..I know how they think of him..they think of him as the scapegoat
of SF..." Den sighed, shaking her head.
"Oh..wait..au does na know, does au?" he asked, looking at Den.
"Know what?" she asked him, frowning as if she already knew the answer.
"We.." He replied, growling " The Empire is on the brink of war"
"Another war?! Did we na just *finish* one?" Den replied, looking at
him, shocked. "It almost caused the Empire to fall...and now there is
another?" Raith nodded, frowning.
"Kazan and tr`Kirk plan to divide the people down the middle...and
plunge the Empire into civil war...if Kazan can kill Toma...who the
people consider a traitor..then she will have the majority of people.."
Den looked at him and glared. "Toma being a traitor to the Empire is a
matter of opinion..and one I would fight anyone who says so..."
"Ie..I know. I was just stating what is being said erei'Riov. please
calm down. Den nodded and sighed.
"I am Aiel's friend, but I am also a long time friend of Toma. I do na
like the idea of the Tal Shiar trying to kill him...just because they
do na like him..."
"Look around au, this is a war ship..this is what Kazan wants...an
excuse..." Den frowned, shaking her head.
"With her trying to gain support killing Toma...tr`Kirk is trying to
get support his way..." Den growled at the name, looking at him.
"Kirk is na but a Verrul..a Klhe who is na Rihanssu...a traitor..." Den
growled. Raith agreed with her.
"He would stab anyone in the back, just as long as it suited him.."
"But if this ship is na with Kazan or tr`Kirk..who do au serve?" Den
asked him, curious.
"The Kalen is my ship..and there is only one commander that is aware of
my existance..." Raith replied.
"May I ask who that is?" Raith nodded.
" Former Tal Shiar director erei'Riov tr`Ronga" Raith nodded. Den
looked at him curiously. "I think au have met him? if I am na
mistaken?"
"Ie. I know of him...his son is part of the Tal Shiar, and Aiel's
personal guard." Raith grinned at her.
"Have au ever read the Earth classic "Julius Cesar?" Den thought a
minute and shook her head na.
"Na..but I am familiar with the story"
"Then let us say that Brutus, Cesar's killer is Ronga..." he replied,
then grinned at them both.
"And I am the voices that whispered in his ear to do it for the
betterment of the Empire.." Den chuckled, shaking her head.
"I am sure that he will undoubtedly leave as soon as he comes to the
reason that what he did was wrong...but until then..I have much
power.." He said, then looked at Den. "And I am willing to share that
power..."
"I am friends with Aiel..but I would do what I can to see that
that....traitor, tr`Kirk does na gain that office."
"I want to see neither there...." Raith replied, as den nodded. " Aiel
is too weak...and tr`Kirk would make things worse"
"Ie. I agree with au." Den said as Raith moved towards her, offering
his hand.
"We are few..." he replied, but gestered around the room. " but we are
well armed and strong of drive.." Den looked at him and did na hesitate
to take his hand, shaking it.
"A ship could be arrainged to serve au...as long as there is an
understanding between us"
"I want to help..but I do na think..killing Toma is the way..." Den
said looking at him as Raith grinned, shaking her hand.
"It was na my idea...Toma is a valuable ally..." He replied. Meira
smiled at the two of them. "Aiel is the one that sent the Tal Shiar to
kill him" Den nodded.
"Understand this, Raith...I will help if au can get me a ship..I will
commander her..but I protect my friends also..."
"Accepted. Several of the new Kalen class ships have been completed...I
will see that au is given one...do au have any other requests?
"Na..I can na think of anything right now"
"Any crew au would like to assign? special equipment?"
"I wish I could find all of the old Rahkolh crew..." Den replied,
sighing."
I would like to have au assigned to my squadron... but that is up to
au" Raith replied and Den smiled, bowing.
"I would be honored to be part of it"
" Neirk and Danlek are the only ones I know..." Raith said looking sad.
"Is Danlek is still around? Den asked, as Raith nodded.
"Aye.. he is a good friend and protecter of t`Renn..the agent who saved
me from SF. He is residing on 220 for now..."
"Aye..he is a loyal officer..that one..he served with me on the
Rakholh...helped me in many ways...I know his Mate.."
"I will have to contact him soon..."
"He is considering retirement, Den." Den smiled, thinking for a few
minutes.
"Maybe I can convince him to serve on my ship this one time before he
retires..."
"He has been most....difficult to obtain..." Den smirked, looking at him.
"Where there is a will...there is a way..." Raith chuckled, grinning.
"I can be very persuasive.."
"I hope so..." he replied. Raith stood up and looked at her.
" If I can think of anything else..I will inform au if I do..." Den
said extending her hand.
"And I do appologise for this whole ordeal- I would have contacted au
but i needed the TS and SS to think they each had the upper hand." He
replied shaking her hand.
" Hann`yyu for letting me help...::nods:: well..I am sure that they
think exactly that.."
"Hann`yyu for au help..it is greatly appreciated..." Raith turned to Meira, who had been somewhat quiet through the whole exchange. "Lass?" Meira turned to look at him. He asked if there was anything
she wanted to say. Meira stood tall and looked him in the eyes.
"I want to help. and I want to get the ones that killed my
parents...."
"I am sorry. I do na know who was responsible for that...I wish I did
know..."
"I will find out and they will pay..."
" Ie.. if au require help I am sure your aunt and I will do anything we can" Den nodded, going to hug her neice.
" Hann`yyu...and au have my loyalty, Rekkhai" Meira said, turning to look at him as Raith smiled.
"Hann`yyu. Now..if au ladies will excuse me..." Raith said as he bowed and left, leaving Meira and Den to think about what had been said.
