SRR Ra`KalenChapter One Hundred-Eighteen: Conversations in Closed Rooms
[Elq's Quarters]

Elq was irritated by the suspicion. They all were. There was no cause for it, no actions that could be viewed as treacherous.

There was a hush in the room. Elq had just finished relaying what happened with Nerik--Remi had a similar if not more direct confrontation--and Kuro had bypassed it in a way--but not without a confrontation from Nerik.

tr'Remi>What i want to know is--what's Kandeen's purpose? I don't believe this is just a way to get to know the crew. He's got to have other motives.

tr'Kuro> Maybe but I don't think Raith would have put him here without trusting him. Raith knew him, knew where he came from--well enough that he thought it was safe to leave the ship with him.

tr'Elq>That's true--but Raith and Kandeen are two different people. And Kandeen isn't under Raith either, he may have orders from whom he serves.

tr'Kuro> In any case this has to end. I don't care what his rank is he'd better back off soon.

tr'Remi>Yeah, if he is only after loyalty as he says, this isn't the way to do it. He's making the crew doubt and distrust him. Some more than others, but no one here has the greatest track record. Stirring things up won't improve our disposition towards him.

tr'Elq> Aye. He should realize he can't just take our loyalty, he HAS TO EARN IT.

tr'Kuro> Aye.

tr'Remi> I can't figure out why he trusts Nerik of all people. He's not the most trustworthy member of the crew. I wouldn't put it past him to use the information for his own gain when it serves him.

The conversation continues for a while. The three discussing what approach to take.
