[The Supply Station: After the meeting]
The Leih walked around the station, admiring the surroundings and attempting
to relax before a difficult mission. He had a custom, ever since visting KH
Hama so long ago, of stopping by the shop of House Marrus wherever he found
one. They always had a great selection in parts and a few interesting
gadgets to dissemble. He picked up a few things, and walked on in the
station. Passing an interesting looking ch'Havran cuisine resteraunt,
Rhagarokk decides to take a break to eat. Stepping in through the
passageway, Rhagarokk smacked his lips in anticipation of the meal. But
then...
Invisibly, a wave of distorted time echoes out from it's focal point in the
east. The wave expands in all directions displacing, destroying, and
creating in its wake. The wave continues throughout the universe, enveloping
the station. An intense feeling of pain and nausea overtakes Rhagarokk,
forcing him to his knees. The wave continues on its infinite journey, very
soon hitting the Wildstrike. The Wildstrike, having the most advanced
temporal sensors in the Republic, detects the wave automatically sending up
the temporal shielding to prevent it from being affected by the timeline
change. On all displays throughout the ship flashes a symbol- the ancient
Vulcan iconograph for "Time" with the sentence "Paradox Detected"
underneath. Immediatly the crew snaps to action: those who had been
specifically prepped for the Wildstrike's mission purpose were taught first
thing about the Paradox Imperative. It meant that the timeline itself had
been comprimised by an unapproved source and action was required.
[Wildstrike: Oira]
The Oira was a buzz with activity. Though they hadn't been through this
personally before, the entire crew had been drilled time and again for this
exact circumstance. The RS had been called, but until he got there, the oira
staff were on their own, trying to remember every part of their training.
"Crew location check!"
"Most of the crew has checked in... only Farein tr'Thranxus and Erien
t'Glunus are unaccounted for."
"Wait... where's the Leih?"
"Reading him on the station!"
"Duty officer tr'Yui to Erie'riov tr'Rhagarokk... come in, rekkhai!"
The other end of the com was met with screams, howls, and cursing.
"Beam him into sickbay. tr'Yui to tr'Rekkohan, medical emergancy, report to
med bay immediatly. Com, contact the Hydra, see if it was affected by
timeline pollution. Tactical, align Temporal cloak. Gonaiih, set course for
the source of the disturbance as per the Paradox Directives."
tr'Yui, the duty science officer, kept up working at the primary science
console until the RS got there. He prayed fervently to the Elements that he
had remembered all the protocal....
[On the Wildstrike....]
In the Med Bay, the Leih lies on a bio-bed, attended to by assistant medics.
D`Tarik and Rylan have just been notified that the Leih has been beamed into
sickbay. D`Tarik has the ops officer on duty beam him to the medbay to get
him there as quick as possible, while Rylan steps out from the lift onto the
Oria where he's been expected to arrive. "All right, so I'm here." he
pauses to look over to tr`Yui, the science officer on duty who had called
him to the Oria in the first place, "What's all the signs and sirens about?"
"The Paradox alarm rekkhai..."
"Well, ie." Rylan interrupts, heading towards 'the chair', "Turn off the
siren then, so we can all think again. Where's this paradox coming from?"
"It requires the CO or XO authorization to shut off unless the two of them
are no longer in existance..." tr`Yui explains, pausing ever so slightly
before continuing, "and the paradox is apparantly coming from the Eastern
Republic, Tirol system."
Mumbling "Oh, for Element's sake..." Ry taps an auth-code into the keypad at
the arm of the chair to turn off the bells, then nods his head at the Fairen
ahead of him, "Gonaiih...target that Tirol system and get going. ETA on
arrival there?"
"Quite a while, even at maximum." the Farien at helm replies, "2.3 days if
we head straight there at maximum."
"2.3 days?" Ry grins slightly, "Then we best get a move on then, hadn't
we?" nodding to the Gonaiih, he turns his head again to spot Yui, "Any idea
on what's causing this paradox? Other then where it originated from?"
Checking the science consol, Yui answers, "I'm afraid we can't tell much at
this distance....the Leih is usually the io to tell us, since he has
techniques years beyond what we have."
Ry raises a brow slightly at that, then taps open a line to D`Tarik down in
med bay. Almost hopefully he asks, "Any progress on the Leih, tr`Rekkohan?"
then fixes tr`Yui with an annoyed look, "Seems he's the only io able to run
the sci-station up here." At the science officer's sheepish expression,
Rylan waves him away with, "Just keep pressing some buttons and see what au
can come up with then. Anything is better then nathing at this point, ie?"
As tr`Yui hurries to get to work trying to find out more information, Rylan
opens the channel to D`Tarik again, "Waiting up here, Rekkohan! I - and the
rest of the Oria - would like to know the stats of the Leih!!"
[Meanwhile....down in Medbay....]
Upon his beam-in to the Medbay D`Tarik, looking very worn out, runs over to
the bio-bed where the Leih lay. "What is going on??" he asks of any
assistant that would answer.
"I do na know..." Farien tr`Rogel answered, "there was the alarms, then he
was beamed in, and preliminary scans don't show anything wrong with him..."
he stops talking as the Leih grunts in pain and continues to twitch around,
but then suddenly stops.
Grabbing his wrist, tr`Rekkohan immediately checks his pulse, turning his
eyes to tr`Rogel, "Did au check his brain waves? Or check for any
life-forms in his system? Or...." he goes off, listing possibilities much
too rapidly for the poor Farien to keep up with. As tr`Rogel stammers and
steps back, Rekkohan moves in to complete the scans for all the possiblities
he listed off as Rylan's voice comes over the comline for the first time.
Without bothering to answer tr`Tuhmek, Rekkohan keeps on with his scans,
checking for parasites in the Leih's central neverious system, then checking
the Leih's brain-wave patterns for psyic implulses. After a running a few
more scans and comming up with nothing, he stops and rubs his chin in
thought, an almost irritated look on his face, "Hrm...interesting....."
and is halted in his thought by Rylan's insistance for information.
"I - and the rest of the Oria - would like to know the stats of the Leih!!"
Ry's aggrevated voice insists.
Taping open the com to reply, he answers back with, "I'm busy Rylan. The
Leih is definitely na all right. I'm getting odd readings." he pauses a
moment, then adds before switching off the line, "I'll keep au updated."
[Back on the Oria....]
Rylan raises a brow slightly at the 'definitely na all right' bit, finding
absolutely no comfort in D`Tarik's serious tone. Turning to the officer at
the Tac station, he asks, "And au?? Can au tell me much more of what's
going on around here, then the others?" he pauses a second and adds, "I
hope!"
Not quite sure what to say, t`Dhugel taps a bit on the consol in front of
her, then happily comes across something to report, "The Hydra appears to
have na been affected by the timeline shift..." then mumbles quietly to
herself, "How is that possible...."
"Excellent!" Rylan grins, then nods to the Com station, "Open a channel and
see what their Science officer is picking up." he turns his eyes to fix on
tr`Yui as he finished that last.
"They're refusing our hail, rekkhai...." the com officer reports back, "and
returning an encryted message, audio only. Play it?"
Ry, fuming that their hail was basically ignored, nods "Play it back
then..."
A few seconds later, the audo plays back, "Maintain communications silence.
As au know there has been a major timeline shift, and we do na want to give
ourselves away to the residents of this universe. Initiate temporal cloak
and proceed to the original mission's target."
*Residents of 'this' universe?* Ry silently ponders, not likeing the sound
of it at all. Shaking his head to clear it, he nods to the Gonaiih,
"Alrighty then, the original mission target...how close is that to this
system we're now headed to?"
"It IS the system we're heading to." the Farien answers smugly.
Ry grins at that, tossing back almost sarcastically, "Excellent! We're
right on target then!" Immediately, the good-humored grin dies, as he fixes
the Farien with a look, "Now let's see about keeping ninte eyes on that
screen, and don't run us into anything then." As the Farien turns back
around to face the screen again, setting his eyes on it as ordered, Ry taps
open the comline to D`Tarik once more, "Any further progress on the Leih's
stats?"
[Back in Medbay...]
D`Tarik applies one of his custom metal bands with a mini computer screen on
it to get a better scan of the Leih's brain wave pattern. The normal scans
had picked up a rather 'strange reading', and he wanted to look into that in
more detail then the standard equipment would allow. Pausing for a moment
in his work, feeling stumped for once on what to do next, DT scratches his
head trying to think.
Without warning, Rhagarokk opens his eyes and sits up suddenly, startling
the medical personnel around him, "Status?"
D`Tarik, almost looking like he hadn't been surprised in the least by this,
answers immediately, "On au, rekkhai....I found almost nathing wrong, but a
weak pulse and strange readings on ninte lifesigns. The ship.....they are
having problems." he pauses to look at the Leih curiously, "How do au feel?
Any disorientation?" Just now realizing that he had never been allowed to
see the Leih's medical record, he adds, "Does this happen often?"
Rhagarokk shakes his head vigorously, "Don't worry...it doesn't happen all
that often. I've got to get to the Oira." he announces, jumping off the
biobed.
"Leih, since this is an emergency, I will let au go...but latter I would
like to discuss what just happened to au, rekkhai..." Rekkohan requests,
bowing his head respectfully.
Rhagarokk nods at that, running out of the med bay, "We'll talk when we have
the chance." he calls back as the doors close behind him, just as Rylan's
question floats over the comline again.
Tapping open his end of the channel, DT answers the quiery with, "He's up
and on his way...."
At hearing the last from Ry, he glances around the medbay. Speaking quietly
to himself, causing the medical assistants to look at each other, then give
the Daise a funny look as Rekkohan walks out, he mumbles to himself,
"Might as well go upto the Oria, I guess...."
[On the Oria....]
Rylan taps back a happy, "Hann`yyo...." to DT as the Medical man informed
them of the Leih's apparent recovery, then sits back to wait for the
inevitable questions from Rhagarokk, reflecting on the fact he didn't have
much to report himself.
"I think," tr`Yui suddenly intergects, "I've determined a rough idea of
what happened, rekkhai."
Brightening up considerably at this, Rylan nods, "Excellent! Let's hear
it!"
"Well, it appears that the Empress has...."
"Activated her time weapon." the Leih finishes for him, stepping out onto
the Oria. Rylan and the other officers immediately stand at attention as
Rhagarokk's feet hit the Oria floor. Motioning for everyone to get back to
work, he continues, "It appears the holo-problems we had slowed us down
enough to let her perform a test run.....status, Rylan?"
"We're heading towards the target now, rekkhai, though it will take us a few
days to get there." Out of the corner of his eye, Rylan sees tr`Rekkohan
step out onto the Oria as well as the Leih took his chair. Without
acknowleging the medical man, he continues, "The Hydra appears to be
unaffected as well, though we're uncertain as to why, and they're
maintaining channel silence." he finishes with a slight frown.
"That's the Tal`Shiar for au..." Rhagarokk replies, "All right, looks like
everything's in order. Have the TAG people tap into the networks and see
what they can discern from...." And is interrupted as alarms begin to go
off again, and all the sensors light up with new information.
"Ie rekkhai." Rylan nods. Trying to ignore the sirens once more, he opens a
channel and requests Vyynd to report to the Oria, and informs the Tal`Shiar
agent why.
"What now..." Rhagarokk waits to hear reports of what's going on. D`Tarik
settles himself into a reletively out-of-the-way spot on the Oria, looking
around at the busy officers as the alarms still blare on.
Yui, staring puzzled at the panel in front of him, answers the Leih's
question. "We're .... back in the correct timeline, rekkhai..."
Rhagarokk sighs at that, "Keep on course... Rylan, coordinate with the
sciences to try to find out what happened."
