SRR Morrahe`VnuChapter One Hundred - Eight:
Putting Tahn to Work
[On the Wildstrike....]

After finally finding out why Katara had come looking for him in the first place, Ry walks with his arm around her waist, heading back to the bar. Letting her go clean up the mess the crash had caused, he heads over to the bar's replicator to fix it once more, and spies Gehan tr`Tahn still on the floor. Nudging him with the tip of a boot, Ry smirks and calls out loudly to the Farien, "Hey! Don't au think au slept it off long enough?"

"Huh?!" tr`Tahn bolts up into a sitting position, "Oh...I must've passed out....fvadt! My head hurts!" he rubs the back of his head gingerly with a hand.

Ry nods at that, "Hold on a moment..." he crosses to the counter of the bar and rummages around to find Katara's medkit. Pulling out a small hypo and filling it with his own 'hangover' cure, he passes it off to the Farien. "Here...take a hit of that. It'll take the headache away."

"Whoa!" Tahn shakes his head a moment, after injecting himself, "What a head-rush! But my headache's gone, hann`yyo!" he grins.

Ry turns and opens the panel in the back of the replicator to run a diagnostic on the wiring. "Ie...that always does the trick. Focuses au right back up." he nods from within the replicator. "Now....what, exactly, is it au do here, Farien?"

"Huh? Oh...I'm at the helm." Gehan nods, and looks around the disassembled bar.

Attaching the isd he was running diags with to his belt, Ry takes a tool to adjust the collaboration of the circuitry. "Helm?" he asks from inside the replicator, "Could've used au earlier..." he smirks, then adds in a mumble, "Before I crashed the darn ship." Replacing the panel once more, Rylan taps up an order of hholare and gives the cup to Tahn. "Here...try this and tell me what au think..."

"Okay...." Gehan takes a sip of the hot black liquid, then makes horrible gagging sounds and falls to the ground clutching his throat. Before Ry could peer over the counter of the bar, Gehan quickly bounces back up, laughing. "Just kidding..." he waves a hand, "It tastes good."

Ry grins and shakes his head. "Au`rh all right, Farien! What's ninte name, kid?"

"Gehan tr`Tahn." the boy nods back.

Ry nods, and looking over at Katara to make sure she was otherwise occupied, he thinks to himself, *...true test of how all right this guy really is....* and opens a bottle of Rhennish. Drinking quickly from the bottle, he lowers it once again, not wanting to start a whole other fight with Katara so soon after the last one, and heads towards the door. "Au have a strong back, Tahn?"

"Ie...I guess." Gehan shrugs, watching the Arrain walk away. "I let others judge how strong I am."

Ry nods and motions the boy to follow, "Then come help me, then! I've got lots to fix around here...and we're na exactly going to be flying anytime soon. Au have other skills besides piloting? Good with computer systems and whatnot?"

"Ie..." Gehan nods and follows after, "I'm a decent fighter too...and I have some skills here and there..." he answers cryptically.

"Good. Au can help get the systems back online then." Ry hides the Rhennish bottle from view and waves over at Katara on his way out the bar-room doors. "What kind of fighting do au do, Gehan?" he asks suddenly as they head down the corridor, "Au train often, do au?" Quickly finishing the bottle of Rhennish in his hand, he tosses the empty in a nearby disposal unit. *.... and that makes two....* he nods to himself.

"I train once or twice a week." Tahn replies, "I want to be able to survive on a hostile planet, without the power of a ship, or the use of weaponry."

Laughing at that, Ry grins at the boy, "Then au have definitely come to the right place! Do au have any idea where we are?"

"Ie..." Gehan looks at the Arrain a little confused, "...the corridors..."

Finding that even funnier, Ry shakes his head and stops, motioning him into an access tunnel. "Na! I meant the ship's current location." he laughs.

Thinking it was all some kind of joke, Tahn shrugs and laughs back, "Na...I have na idea."

Ry heads into the access tunnel after him, "We're on ch`Rihan....*ancient* ch`Rihan."

"Umm...." Tahn pauses a moment to turn and look at him, "What do au mean by...ancient?"

"Ancient!" Ry grins and nods sagely, "Like...primitive. These people are still speaking some strange mix of Vulcan and Rihannsu..."

Tahn laughs again, "Are au kidding me?!"

The good-natured grin suddenly dies on Rylan's face as a much too serious expression replaces it. "Wish I were. We're going to have a time getting all the replicators on to replicate the spare parts we need...na to mention the power shortage." he pops out into the engineering section and heads over to a locker. "Here..." he pulls out a tool-belt, "Au will need these if ninte going to help around here." he motions the boy back towards the tunnel, as Tahn straps the belt around his waist. "Deck 4 still needs some of it's systems looked at. We'll head there."

"Okay." Gehan agrees, then heads back to the tunnel, muttering to himself about ancient ch`Rihan as he walks away.

Ry pauses a moment to speak to one of the Engineering officers on his way out, then continues on towards the tunnel where the Farien waited for him. After climbing the ladder a bit, they near the place they were to work on. Ry suddenly asks Tahn, "Au know much about ch`Rihan? History? Anything like that?"

"Sorry to say, na I don't." Gehan throws him an apologetic look.

Ry sighs a bit. "Me either. But I need to find out a few things...."

"Agreed." Tahn nods immediately.

Ry grins back at the boy, "Au don't know the half of it! We need to find out about the Ruling Queen...."

"Who?" the boy asks confused.

"The first Ruling Queen...." Ry raises a brow to the boy, "T`Rehu..."

"Oh..." Tahn nods, now knowing that he had indeed heard the Arrain correctly. "Okay...."

Ry's brow furrows a moment, as he continues his thoughts out loud, "And I have to do it without the use of the computer's library and without going back there." he suddenly stops and points to a conduit. "This io's giving us some problems. Run a diagnostic on it and see what the problem is." Rylan leans up against the opposite wall of the tunnel to watch and see if the Farien knew what to do.

"Okay..." the boy shrugs, then pulls out a scanner to run the diagnostic. A few moments later, having found the problem, he busily gets down to work. Ry's mind still trails off on it's own wanderings while the Farien works. Trying to push away the earlier unpleasant business with t`Bahyk and Katara out of his mind, he focuses back to the problem of the identity of the farm-girl

He's brought back to reality fifteen minutes later as Tahn turned back towards him with an expectant look on his face. Pulling out his own scanner, Ry runs another diagnostic on the broken conduit, then smiles and nods. "Good work!" he pats Tahn on the back. "Now..." he motions off down the corridor, "Just keep doing that. Run diagnostics and fix whatever au see needs fixing. I've got other repairs to make and departments to check in on." He turns and heads off down the tunnel in the other direction. "Oh!" he suddenly stops, "Hey! When things are back to normal...see about signing up for some training sims in the striker teams, okay?"

"Ie rekkhai." Tahn yells back, then continues on down the tunnel.
