[Conference Room, SRR Aylhr]
Jarok noticed that the nheilhhu dignair ehoma fvai seemed subdued today, his
usually self-confident look was non-existent, replaced by the grim thin line
of a barely perceptible frown. It could only mean a tradgedy of epic
proportions. All stood and saluted the leih, before returning to their
seated positions. Daise'erie'riov Conhae i'Caernu tr'Rok simply sat and
activated a holo-image of the visual portion of the transmission from
Galae'Ohrie....over 6000 rihannsu, an entire division and crew of the
SRR-t'Rakla floating dead in space, the t'Rakla nowhere in sight. Jarok
mouthed words noiselessly while the rest of the Aylhr's saehne where much
more vocal.
Jarok eyed the leih speculatively. He seemed the calm at the eye of the
storm at the moment. The angry voices of the rest of the seemed to make him
even more of a heralded calmness. Jaroks mouthed closed. The death of 6000
rihannsu was to be expected. They had been assigned to the very edges of the
rihannsu stelai, in the avastam the contested area adjoining the three
empires of the Klivam, lloann'na and the rihannsu. Stationed at the decaying
station of 'neutrality' known as Starbase Versailles. He leaned back in his
chair as the voices and feelings died to a low rumble. He crossed his arms
to contain himself. Only one person was responsible for this most heinous
act of aggression, the 55th fleet divisional commander, the person posted to
Versailles to act as 'overseer' of what was now the 'legion of the dead'.
The rihannsu knew ways to make death much more pleasurable than what that
one would suffer.
The leih turned to the engineering officer
"Daise'Paectum'Saehne, work with the Gonaiih to ensure we have maximum
efficiency when the Wing leaves for patrol."
tr'Khola. Jarok knew the Daise'Paectum'Saehne to be the modicum of effiency.
He also knew him to be ruthless in his pursuit of error and maintence. The
only reason he hadnt found Jarok's 'modification' was due to it existing
purely in the helm console's command protocols. He would find it soon
enough, what tr'Khola would do about it was unknown.
Jarok was not worried. He knew they would all do what they must. Vengeance
is a dish best served cold
"tr'Khola to Arrain tr'Randuiel"
The hollow beep alerted Jarok to the tr'Khola's need. So far their 'joint
deliberation' over effiency had so far been kept to informal messaging over
the intercom. Jarok sensed that perhaps the paectum'saehne had found what
Jarok was expecting a competent saehne to find.
"ahr'Jarok"
"Come here"
Rh'e. He had found it. And quickly too. He stood and made his way to the
turbolift before replying.
"Reh ssuaj"
[Paectum]
The hiss of the door opening revealed the vast empire of tr'Khola. Various
paectum saehne went about their business, their orders known only to
themselves and a few close colleagues. Paectum had always been a competitive
department, controvesy, corvertness and intrigue at every step. Just like at
the Phi'lasasam.
And in the middle of the storm of activity stood tr'Khola. A rihan of
menacing stature and temperment. As Jarok approached he could see the
unpleased look on tr'Khola's face.
"Explain"
Jarok simply manuevered past tr'Khola to the console behind him, showing
quite clearly the port shield emmiters collapsing. Jarok began tapping at
the console in a semi-idle fashion, before he felt the strong hand on his
shoulder.
"Do na try to hide ninte treasonous activity. Au deliberately set the shield
emmiters to collapse! Reh will make sure au pay dearly for ninte crime"
Jarok frowned at tr'Khola's insinuation that he had commited some act
agaisnt the ship before finishing his activity.
"There"
tr'Khola gave the screen a accusatory glance before his eyes widened.
"How?"
"Our enemy are cunning. They destroyed an entire division of rihannsu. Mnean
shields are almost twice as strong, mnean are twice as fast at impulse than
their ship. Reh believe this to be na enough. Whoever they are have proven
themselves beyond capable with the deaths of so many rihannsu. Mnean have
advantage in technology, but they have the advanatage of surprise. Reh wish
to take that advantage away"
tr'Khola frowned
"HOW?"
Jarok brought up the long list of astronomical figures. tr'Khola scanned
they cursively.
"These are nothing more than compensation for the cloaking devices change in
gravity"
Jarok pointed at the list. tr'Khola squinted and studied them again before
continuing
"....in the event of the port shield emmiters collapsing. This would have
taken the computer hours of computation."
"Computer?"
tr'Khola gave Jarok a skeptical look before continuing
"The ship will accelerate in course 45 degrees from the current heading at
maximum impulse for one second"
"Ie. Correct"
tr'Khola's gaze remained on the screen "Au know that reh will have to report this to the leih"
Jarok merely saluted before returning to the turbolift "Ie. As to be expected"
By the time tr'Khola looked up, Jarok was nowhere in sight.
