The Birth
of Yami Malik:
If you haven't read the gravekeeper
spoiler, go read that first.
The Ishtars are the protectors of two
items and the pharaoh's memory tablet (the one with the three God
cards on it that Pegasus was looking for in the Shadi-flashback
episode). Um... just to warn you, some of this might be a bit disturbing. I'm pretty sure
4Kids will edit some of this out... so... yeah...
Malik, like the rest of clan, was confined
to live underground, but being curious, he wanted a taste of the
outside world. One day, when Malik was 11, he begged Isis to take
him top-side, if only for a few hours, just to see the light of day.
Rishid encouraged them to go, saying that he'd take care of
everything down here. (P.S. Isis says this is 5 years ago, which
means Malik is 16 during Battle City) So the plan was a go and at
dawn, when the others were still sleeping, Isis and Malik left.

Malik
was fascinated. He ran around the market with big gawky eyes
and went "Wow!" a lot. ^_____^ I'm paraphrasing...
Oh
well. Anyway, when he was running around, he stepped on a
magazine with the pic of a motorbike on it. Typically, he
wanted one. :D |
|
Just then, they were spotted by Shadi who gave them a warning about
how the pharaoh's soul would soon awaken... and... stuff... -_-
typical Shadi mumbo jumbo with his usual delightful sprinkling of
Doom-and-Destruction. Feeling awkward and now slightly nervous,
Isis and Malik headed home.
When re-entering the tunnels, Isis suddenly
realizes that the door was rigged with an alarm system... which
meant that Mr. Ishtar knew-
Running down, the siblings burst into Rishid's room only to find him
gone. Malik searched frantically for his foster brother and finally found
him tied and bleeding, Mr. Ishtar standing over him with a pair of
hot knives (I swear, this guy's more sadistic than Yami Bakura!)
Mr.
Ishtar told the siblings that they would have to pay the price for
breaking clan laws, but Rishid would die first. Malik tried to stop
his father, but he was thrown into a wall for his efforts. Mr. Ishtar kept slashing
Rishid until he passed out, oblivious to his son's cries.
Malik, however, saw his "brother"
fall and assumed his was dead. Overcome with hate and grief, he lost
control and Yami Malik was freed for the first time. Smiling, he
thanked his father for setting him free, and took the Millennium Rod
from it's case, using its powers to freeze Isis and Mr. Ishtar.
Pulling off the bottom half of the Rod, Yami Malik revealed a knife
and started for his father, claiming that it was time for his
ceremony to begin.
(Mr.
Ishtar looks disturbingly like Malik from this angle) |

He skinned his father alive... Peeled off the carvings on his
father's back.
Walking over to Rishid's still form, he
smirked and said that since Rishid wanted so badly to
undertake the clan-leader's marking ceremony, he could wear
the scriptures now (throws his father's tattooed skin on
Rishid's back). Ick?
Horrified and confused Malik stared
at the blood on his hands, Rishid getting up on his knees and
begging him not to look... at his father's body.
Screaming, Malik hugs his father as
the two older siblings look on at a loss.

Shadi (cuuurrrssseee
hiiimm) pops up and says: "The one that made your father walk
this dead-end road is the Pharaoh's soul" (or something like
that).
.......So, the whole Malik-revenge arc thing? Blame Shadi. Heck, the
whole Pegasus-Duelist-Kingdom thing is his fault too... -_-
