The
Pharaoh's Court:
Shadi, Priest of the Ankh
|
Ancient
Egyptian Shadi seems less mysterious and less self-confident.
Although his loyalty lies with the Pharaoh he allows himself
to be swayed by Seto's words into doing things that his heart
tells him is wrong... like throwing villagers into jail because
they have the potential to be evil, but otherwise have no
solid evidence against them.
In present time, a character named Shadi appears briefly to
Yugi and to Pegasus and is introduced as the guardian of the
Millennium Items.
Priest Shadi's reincarnation, perhaps?

Please see the Mysterious
Spirit spoiler for an interesting theory concerning
modern-day Shadi. |
Akunadin, Priest of the Eye
|
Akunadin
is the eldest if all the Priests. It seems he knew Yami's
father quite well.
He's the first one to suspect Seto's
up to something, no doubt due to the fact that he can read
people's minds. Later, Seto comes out and confesses he has a
plan to surpass God, and Akunadin is horrified, begging Seto
to turn back before the darkness consumes him. Seto just
laughs it off and leaves. At that point he called Seto
"son". @_@
Is he actually Seto's father?! Not
sure, I'm withholding judgment until I can get more into. That
doesn't seem likely right now though, since he was attacked by
Bakura right after and won't be talking much for a while. ^_^;
Seto, for his part, however, does show an uncharacteristic
amount of concern and anger once he learns of the attack.
Unconfirmed:
Arthur and Akunadin? Purely guesswork at this point. Though
Arthur does have his theories of Duel monsters=Shadow
monsters, and Akunadin was guardian of the temple that housed
all the monster tablets...
...That
and they've got the same nose and mustache. :P
Take Aku's hood off and he's got Pegasus hair! Achiru
also pointed out that he rather looks like Isis and Malik's
father (3rd pic), although Mr. Ishtar's a lot... meaner than
Akunadin seems to be.

info on this guy's now available in the Thief
King section.

Mahaado, Priest of the Ring
|
Does he look familiar? He should.
Mahaado is perhaps the most loyal of
Yami's six priests. He swears he would do anything, even give
his life for the Pharaoh.
From the day he received the Ring, he kept
its powers sealed, knowing that if he didn't, the Ring would
either corrupt him or consume him. He theorized that his
predecessor had delved into so much hatred and darkness that
the Ring itself was irreparably corrupted.
Besides being a priest, Mahaado also seems to be the Captain
of the Guard, commanded by Yami himself to protect the former
Pharaoh's tomb from the King of Thieves, Bakura. :)
Unfortunately, when Mahaado faced off
against the white-haired tomb raider, he found himself
viciously overpowered, and he lost the duel. Not, however,
before he sacrificed his own life in order to free his soul
and merge with his monster in a last-ditch attempt to stop
Bakura. In this way, he pledged to serve his Pharaoh for all
eternity.
The new monster that was formed from
this union was known as the Dark Magician. |
Seto, Priest of the Rod (...don't say a
word)
|
It
seems Seto's obsession with attaining/ overpowering God cards
goes waaay back (like, 3000 years, or 5000 if you watch the
dub). Incidentally, the first God he was introduced to back
then was Obelisk.
Seto's very self-confident and he
doesn't like to rely on anyone. He values strength above all
else and he doesn't care who he has to plow through to get it
(sound familiar?).
When Bakura attacks, he takes the
opportunity to convince the Pharaoh to let him "go to the
village to search for the thief". Yami reluctantly gives
his permission, under strict orders not to frighten the
villagers. What does Seto do? He goes in and starts arresting
villagers with strong soul monsters in hopes of discovering a
way to extract their powers to boost his own. We know from
Isis in the anime that Seto eventually betrays Yami and tries
to take over.
In present time, he's still a bit of
an @$$hole, but he's got Mokuba to mellow him out. He's a
rich, cold, skeptic genius who runs his own company and
doesn't believe in fate or magic. He can hack into any
computer system known to mortal man, and look hot while
he's doing it. ;)
When Isis tells him his fate is preordained,
he immediately trashes the idea, even after she shows him his
past with the help of the Tauk.
He later proves her wrong by helping
Yami is his duel against Yami Malik. I think there's also
something about him choosing his BEWD over Obelisk, and how
that changed fate, but I'm not sure of the details.
Unconfirmed:
Apparently according to the manga, it says that he and Mokuba
got adopted when Seto beat a businessman in a game of chess.
Later, he kills his adoptive father by pushing him out the
window, therefore getting the inheritance. |
Karimu, Priest of the Scales
|
We
don't know much about this guy, except that he defends Mahaado
when Seto calls him weak and questions his abilities to
protect the tombs. He values his friends and allies and he's
willing to stick out his neck to protect them.
Unconfirmed: There are three Items
that are not claimed by people resemble their Ancient Egyptian
counterparts. The Scale is one of them, since it remains with
Shadi before it is given to Bobasa for safekeeping.
Why
wasn't it claimed? Perhaps, like Mahaado, Karimu's soul merged
with a shadow monster... say, the Celtic Guardian
(another one of Yami/Yugi's personal favorites), and therefore
couldn't be reborn?
Same hair, same eyes, same build and
even a similar style of clothing. Coincidence? ^^ Maybe.
Lots of people picture the Celtic
Guardian and the Dark Magician as good friends. Maybe that
friendship goes farther back than most people realize. |
Aishisu, Priestess of the Tauk
|
Well,
besides being the only female member of The Six, Aishisu is
the bearer of the Millenium Tauk. We reeeeeally don't get much
info on her. This girl barely talks and whenever the Pharaoh's
in trouble, it's usually the guys who ride out and save him.
She bears strong resemblance to
Isis/Ishizu, and even their names are kinda the same...
Um, that's all I've got on her. x_x |
Shimon/Simon, The Advisor
|
Simon is the Pharaoh's most trusted advisor. He probably knows
Yami better than anyone, since he seems to have played a large
part in Yami's upbringing. He used to fish Chibi-Yami out of
the large decorative pots that lined the palace hallways when
the Pharaoh-to-be was trying to avoid his lessons. ;) Kawaii.
He seems to care a lot for Yami and
rarely leaves the Pharaoh's side.
Unconfirmed:
It's all in the eyes. Grampa and Simon, the same person? o_o
It's highly likely. |
Mana, The Apprentice
|
Heehee, looks like Yami's not the only one who likes to hide
in pots to avoid his lessons. In Ancient Egypt, Mahaado had an
apprentice named Mana. If I have to spell this out for you,
get some glasses. :P
She cares deeply for for her master
and is actually kinda protective of him. ^_^; Royally chews
Simon out when he says Mahaado might not be strong enough to
defeat Bakura. She took the news of his death pretty hard and
swore she's be the best magician ever.
It's not actually confirmed that she
and the Dark Magician Girl are the same, since Mana
doesn't have a soul monster at the time when Mahaado dies, but
come on, it's sooooo obvious.
