The
Mysterious Spirit, Shadi:
It's purely speculation at this point, but
is it possible that modern day Shadi is a spirit, trapped within
the Ankh, and only able to temporarily take corporeal form? It would explain the fact that he came
through the floor of Pegasus' castle, and why he doesn't seem
to age between the time he met Pegasus and the time he met Yugi. Randi also added that Shadi's eyes are always mysteriously blank...
like his soul isn't all there or something...

Now, if you you've seen the whole
Isis-explaining-Malik's-past bit, you know Shadi pops up again
several times... transparent at one point. And while on
Kaiba's blimp he has this annoying tendency to vanish into thin air.
Joey and Tristan even speculate that he might've been a ghost
(Poor Joey's spooked). ^_^
This brings up an interesting possibility.
If Shadi's dead, he can still somehow take on a corporeal form (he
pulled up Tristan and Duke, after all). That means that there's a
possiblity the yamis might be able to take on their own forms
too, separate from Yugi and Ryou. O_o Now there's an idea.
Check out the Administrator
of Memories spoiler for more into on Shadi's alter-egos,
Hasan and Bobassa.

Anyway, we now
know that Shadi's supposed to protect Yami, but he's got a darn
funny way of doing it. Half the time, it seems like he's the
cause of all the trouble Yami/Yugi have to face. I mean, who gave
Pegasus the location of the god-card tablets? Who lead Malik to
believe that Yami indirectly orchestrated his father's death?
Sometimes I think he's more trouble than he's worth. :P
The spirit theory is credited to Theria.
