Lord Kalamar Rowanmantle and his henchmen.

Lord Kalamar Rowanmantle is a Half-Elven Fighter/Mage (10F/14MU).
Kal was raised by the Azuraks, a Cormyrian family of minor nobility, distantly related to the great Rowanmantles. The Azuraks lived on the northern shore of the Wyvernwater until they were destroyed by raiders from the Underdark. This led Kalamar on the first of many forays into the Night Below. A few years later he learned his true lineage. His mother Leda was the sister of Shaeral Rowanmantle, wife of Mourngrym of Shadowdale. He never knew nor cared to know the Elf that was his father. Kal made a name for himself as an adventurer and one of the founding members of the band known as the Shadow Swords from their extensive subterranean adventures. Kalamar built the incredible Cloud City of Kaldun with help from Elementals, Giants, and others, nearly killing himself in the process, and now spends most of his time ruling his lands and hunting the ever-present pirates. By the grace of King Azoun, Kal rules a duchy which lies in southeastern Cormyr along the coast, and stretches from the Liontower (once known as Wormtower) to Dawngleam. Only Kal in all the Realms has the key needed to enter the Liontower (as far as it is known). Kal also claims one of the most westerly of the Pirate Isles, a speck of land now known as the Isle of the Iron Man. The appellation stems from a strange and deadly 12' tall metal man painted in red and gold that helped Kalamar and his followers destroy the isle's pirate populace. The Cloud City of Kaldun floats majestically 500' feet above the Sea of Fallen Stars near the Neck, east-southeast of Westgate. Kal once wielded Dawnrazor, the two-handed sword of sharpness he enchanted himself, and when that great blade was destroyed by a mighty Skeleton Warrior and the destructive sword known as Bladebreaker, Kal crafted an even mightier sword, Darkslayer, also known as the Sword of Lathander. Hailing from his floating city, Lord Rowanmantle defends the approach to the Lake of Dragons, and endlessly hunts the minions of evil on the Sea of Fallen Stars. Among Kal's more famous magic items are Darkslayer, Laeral's Storm Armor, the Lance of Kul (huge Harpoon +2 that releases ball-lighting on command), and the Dragonhelm of Kaldun which grants the wearer the senses of a great wyrm.

Mavvenes Thunderhands is a Human Mage (Cormyrian War-Wizard)(11MU).
Mavvenes, or Mavven as he is often called, originally hailed from far-off Calimshan, and traveled to Cormyr when he was quite young. Pleased with the philosophical differences between decadent Calimshan and idealistic Cormyr, Mavven stayed. A fledgling mage, he soon entered the ranks of the famed War-Wizards of Cormyr, rising swiftly through the ranks. He entered the service of Lord Rowanmantle years ago when Kal was in need of a mighty evoker to battle a host of foul creatures near the Haunted Halls of Eveningstar. Mavven has been on detached duty to Lord Rowanmantle since, and thoroughly enjoys the benefits, danger, and camaraderie. Mavven is a consummate spy and man of many faces, and has gathered information for Lord Rowanmantle on many different occasions. He is known as Thunderhands for the lethal force of his spells (typical of Cormyrian War-Wizards), but his magic missiles in particular are both unusually plentiful, and astonishingly deadly.

Lady Velanna, the Phoenix of Lathander, is a Human Cleric (Morninglord)(9C).
Velanna was, until recently, a Silverstar of Selune. She and Kal met when he needed the services of one skilled in navigation by land and sea. She still bears a soft spot for the night, but her heart is now given to Lathander Morninglord. This change occurred when she was slain by a cleverly disguised Scarab of Death. As the horrible thing devoured her heart, the blood spewing forth began to blaze with light. She vanished in a fiery glow like that of the rising sun, and when the light died down, Velanna had changed. Her skin was as orange as the dawning day, and her hair and eyes as red as flames. She had been wearing the artifact known as the Ring of the Phoenix, and had been resurrected, the Ring becoming part of her. No one knew what would happen, but in an astonishing display of cooperation, Selune allowed her to enter the service of Lathander provided her graciousness was made widely known by the followers of the Morninglord. Now, bearing the Sunblade known as Dawnbringer, Velanna ruthlessly and tirelessly ferrets out and destroys evil. She and Kal had planned to marry, but her zealous persectution of evil leaves no time for family idylls, and so they ended their engagement. They still are the best of friends, but everyone who knows her sees the deep change in her; she lives in a world only she sees with her blazing eyes, a world of unceasing struggle against evil. Velanna is also known for the strength of her blows in battle, and this is due to the Gauntlets of Herne the Hunter (Ogre Power) she wears. She is the bearer of the Shroud of Resurrection, which has the power to raise just about anyone and anything, no matter how long dead. Velanna permits it to be used after communing with Lathander and considering the character of the individual in question.

Solomon Nightshade is a Human Mage (Necromancer-Anatomist)(6MU).
Kal and Solomon met in one of the dark times of Kal's life. Kal had ravaged his body with spellcasting, and was looking for a way to achieve immortality. He had even begun to toy with thoughts of lichdom. Kal sought out a Necromancer, and found Solomon. They had a lot in common, such as that both were intrigued by the constant struggle between good and evil that seemingly plagues most intelligent beings to one degree or another. Kal thought that perhaps necromantic magic, which he had never practiced, might have something to offer. Solomon, with a great deal of help from Velanna and Mavvenes, slowly but surely turned Kal away from his inquiries into lichdom. Solomon too was interested in the search for eternal youth through magic, but Lord Rowanmantle has largely lost interest in it, having apparently found other things to occupy his mind. Lord Rowanmantle allows Solomon to continue his necromantic research, with the understanding that nothing involving undead or dark sorcery (except counterspells or bane-spells) in general is permitted, a restriction Solomon wholly agrees with. Recently, Solomon has been absent from his usual home in the Cloud City of Kaldun, and rumor has it he is spying out Westgate for Lord Rowanmantle's future attention.

Valdemaar, Green Dragon.
Valdemar is a Green Dragon of old age. Valdemaar was defeated in Undermountain by Kal and the Dwarf Farak, and accepted Kal's offer to surrender rather than die. In exchange for his life, Valdemaar, a creature of his word, agreed to served Kal for the rest of Kal's life. Kal gives Valdemaar an equal share of the booty they take, and Valdemar is amassing a huge new treasure trove he uses, naturally, as a bed. Valdemaar is even more unusual among Green Dragons due to the two additional full-sized forelimbs he sports (and uses with deadly efficiency). Read that story here.

Chrysanderax, the Altered Aurumvorax.
Chrysanderax is an Aurumvorax that Kal altered with the Alter Beast spell. Chrysanderax is intelligent and can speak, and his 2 foremost sets of limbs are human-like (but clawed) hands. He is incredibly dangerous in battle (even moreso than usual), wielding the legendary blade the Flame of the North to great effect. Chrysanderax stands over seven feet tall on his four hind limbs to wield the legendary two-handed sword Flame of the North, and is nothing less than an engine of destruction in battle.

Arrikan, Verethranga, Ker, and Furycho, Altered Black Dragons.
Arrikan, Khystrophanes, Ker, and Furycho, are Black Dragons that Kal raised from the egg. All four are of tremendous size for their age, and some kind of magic is believed to be the cause. Kal used Alter Beast on them to free them of their innately wicked nature. Though the four are physical giants for their age, they are still children mentally. They view Kal as a beloved parent, and Valdemaar as a strange and somewhat sinister uncle.

Argus, Altered Tressym.
Argus is Kal's Tressym familiar, a winged cat native to Eveningstar. Argus is very loquacious and loves to eat. He is a connoisseur of fine foods, including many not typically eaten by felines, and is a very tubby orange tabby. The Alter Beast spell gave Argus the ability to speak and even cast minor spells.

Gware, an Altered Giant Beaver.
Gware is giant beaver from a parallel prime-material plane, where Kal rescued him from a circus. Gware is very intelligent and friendly, but is very protective of those he sees as family, including Kal. Gware was amazingly sharp teeth, almost vorpal, and has torn through quite a few pirate ship hulls.

Screeth, an Altered Azymuth.
Screeth is an Azymuth, a kind of odd bat. He is rarely seen and very little is known about him, other than that he can talk and may have some rudimentary spell ability.

Garanang, a polymorphed Troll
Garanang may actually be a huge Troll, but long ago Kal polymorphed the monstrous thing into a great lion, then used the Alter Beast spell to give him huge wings. Kal is very fond of casting Animal Growth on him just before combat, transforming him from a deadly opponent to a veritable blender.

Archivolt and Calidea, two altered Rust Monsters
This pair of Rust Monsters is quite remarkable. Not only does Kal enjoy a wonderful rapport with them, they can even talk to each other. Using Alter Beast and Awaken Intelligence, Kal helped these two delightful creatures become very extroverted and loquacious. They love to talk, write poetry, and sing, and Calidea can even cast spells with the rudimentary hands(!) that sprout from the ends of her tentacles. Of course, metallic spell components do not fare very well....
