The Gnome desktop environment I suggest you visit Gnome's homepages.

You'll find details on the latest releases of Gnome, Downloads, Tutorials, FAQ's and loads of other info.

I personally don't use Gnome much although it is very popular.
Most articles on window managers and desktops will deal with Kde and Gnome.
Gnome takes more getting to used to than Kde, however it is also more powerful and can be enhanced more.
I have experimented with it briefly, but until I have time to dedicate to Gnome I'll stick with Kde.
