Gorean Money and Measurements

Money
On Gor, each city mints its own coins. This means that there is often a lot of variation in the actual worth of each coin, depending on which city mints it. As in most things, though, the City of Ar sets the standard, and their gold tarn disk is used as such in many other cities.
- Tarsk Bit: a copper coin worth from 1/10 to 1/4 of a copper tarsk, depending on the city which mints the coin.
- Tarsk: copper coin that is the whole coin of least value, equalling 10 tarsk bits.
- Silver Tarsk: a coin worth 100 copper tarsks.
- Copper Tarn Disk: smallest unit of tarn currency.
- Silver Tarn Disk: worth approximately 10 silver tarsks.
- Gold Tarn Disk: a unit of currency, of the highest value on Gor; also made in double- weight, worth about 100 silver tarns. Many cities on Gor mint their own money, but the gold tarn disk of Ar is the standard for much of Gor.
Measurements
Near the Sardar mountains, where the 4 yearly Sardar Fairs are held, the standard for the Gorean foot is kept. This is a metal rod. During the fairs, people from various cities are able to measure their standard for the Gorean foot against this metal rod, thereby standardizing the measurement throughout Gor.
Likewise, in the Sardar area, is kept the standard for the Gorean Stone (weight measurement). This is actually a metal cylinder. Once during each of the 4 fairs, this stone is brought out with a set of scales so that merchants from each city may test their own "standard" stone against it.
