| The Yuuzhan Vong's fanatical hatred of machines was originally going to be restricted: only the extra-fanatical Domain Shai would have been given this particular trait. The whole organic technology stance was thought up by R.A Salvatore |
| It was said by many that the Yuuzhan Vong were a greater threat than anything the galaxy faced during the reign of Emperor Palpatine. However, the Yuuzhan Vong could somehow be seen as less evil, in that they were fighting through a strong moral stance, and a stoic religion, whereas Palpatine enslaved the galaxy for power alone. Whatever the case, the Yuuzhan Vong fanaticism remained. The Yuuzhan Vong were deeply religious, and wor- shipped a pantheon of gods, believing theirs was the chosen race, and all others were infidels. They believed they had been created by Yun-Yuuzhan, the parent god and the being who occupied the very center of the cosmos. The Yuuzhan Vong told of how he sacrificed parts of his own body to create their race. Thus, ritual sacrifices among the Yuuzhan Vong became common. They would often gouge out an eye or mutilate their bodies in various gruesome ways in order to show their devotion to Yun- Yuuzhan. The more scars and mutilations a warrior bore on his body, the greater his achievements were. The most mutilated of all became Supreme Commanders, while those with few or no tatoos and scars were looked upon in derision. As well as Yun-Yuuzhan, The Creator, the Yuuzhan Vong worshipped many other gods. Yun-Harla, The Trickster, was made of borrowed parts and was known as the Shaper's god. Those who followed her beliefs saw lying and deception as the greater good. Yun-Yammka, The Slayer, was the god of the warlords and the prefects. Appeals to Yun-Yammka were always in sacrifices - sometimes even leading to death. Everything the Yuuzhan Vong achieved was for the greater glory of the gods. Although the Yuuzhan Vong believed some of the gods required death sacrifices, they would not hesitate to kill themselves for their beliefs. However, this wasn't because they did not value their lives: they knew death comes to all, and so were willing to part with their lives - though how they died was all-important. They would not grovel or give up if they knew they were losing a battle. They would die in a blaze of glory in a sacrifice befitting their glorious deities. Thus, the Yuuzhan Vong were relentless in their attacks against the New Republic. |
