| My name is Mikka, and I'm a TWH/Draft cross filly. I'm about 15 months old and living in my third, but final home. I was born on a Nurse Mare Farm and I was lucky, I got to stay with my mom for many weeks before she had to go take on a new baby. Sometimes I miss her. My second mom was a woman named Teresa in Tennessee. She taught me lots of great things. She taught me how to listen and how to 'step up'. She taught me that I'm loved and that it's good to be around people. She helped me to enjoy food without bowling a person over for it, but I still tapdance while I wait. I know Teresa still loves me, but that we can't be together. I hope she knows that I still love her too. When I was 13 months old (not too long ago) I moved one more time, this time to Kentucky. I have a new mom, named Regan, but more importantly I have a dad named Lance. My dad and I spend a lot of good time getting to know each other, and it was love at first sight. Lance tells me that I'm going to be a 'stunning cavalry horse', whatever that means. All I know is that he's teaching me to stand patiently while he shoots the loudstick and he's always putting stuff on my back and taking it off or picking up my feet and touching me all over so I don't get nervous. He's a good dad, and he's just learning too. He doesn't know it yet, but Regan got him a book by GaWaNi Pony Boy for Christmas to help him learn how to teach me. Lance says he wants to train me gently and naturally so that we will truly be bonded, and work together because we want to. Sounds good to me, as long as he keeps plenty of treats in his pockets! Most days now I hang out with my new herd. I have two siblings: a 15 year old OTTB gelding named Shadowy and a 4 year old QH mare named Imbri. Imbri was a little...umm...rude when I arrived, but we get along really well now. She likes to be the boss. Shadowy likes to run and so do I, but I'm not very good at playing yet. I'm sure my big brother will teach me that, too! We horses take care of 4 goats, too. Mainly, I like to cry and run to Regan when they try and eat my food. I do NOT like sharing my food! Regan says I shouldn't let them do that, she tells me I'm bigger than they are. I say Regan needs to look at those HORNS! Even though I've moved a lot I know I'm a very loved horse. I have a lot of learning and growing to do, but I think it's all going to be fun. I'll send more pictures if Regan and Lance ever get around to taking more! I'm always posing for them, but I don't think they notice! Silly people. Happy Holidays! --Mikka |
